Episode 12 recap: Lei Xu is Framed
Episode 12:Lei Xu rushes out of his house in a hurry, driving his car. He doesn't see Xingxing playing with his remote-controlled toy car in the yard and accidentally runs over it, smashing it to pieces. Lei Xu quickly apologizes and says he has an urgent matter to attend to, promising to buy Xingxing a new one later. He then drives off in a hurry to an abandoned building where Su Da is already waiting for him.
Lei Xu goes upstairs alone, carrying a device used for executing criminals. Halfway up, he is knocked unconscious. Du Zi Yu returns home and asks Xingxing if Lei Xu is back. Xingxing says no, he's waiting for Lei Xu to buy him a new car. Lao Zhao tells Du Zi Yu that Lei Xu had to rush out and accidentally broke Xingxing's toy car.
Lei Xu wakes up to find himself tied up in the abandoned building. He sees Su Da lying dead at the bottom of the building, his head covered in blood. The police arrive at the scene. Du Zi Yu is worried about Lei Xu and waits for him at his apartment building, but he doesn't show up. Instead, she receives a call from Zhang Li, who tells her what happened. They both feel that Lei Xu was too reckless. Online, rumors about the incident start circulating, with details even the people involved don't know.
When questioned by the police, Lei Xu says he received a call from an unknown number. It turns out the caller was Su Da, who claimed to know why Jiang Xiao Jie changed her testimony. He asked Lei Xu to meet him at the abandoned building alone. Lei Xu told him to come to the prosecutor's office instead, but Su Da said he couldn't come because there was a mole inside.
The police ask Lei Xu why Su Da's DNA is under his fingernails. Lei Xu looks at his hands and sees the blood under his nails, shocked. Du Zi Yu goes to see Prosecutor Chen and asks if he can help get Lei Xu's mandatory supervision lifted. Chen tells her that Lei Xu needs to be more disciplined. He says that Lei Xu's reckless actions in handling the case are the reason for his current predicament.
In short, Prosecutor Chen is unwilling to help and tells Du Zi Yu to mind her own business. Li Xiao Yan meets with Du Zi Yu and tells her that because of the negative online comments about Jiang Xiao Jie, their family has decided to move to a new place and start a new life. They are grateful for the care Du Zi Yu and Lei Xu have given Jiang Xiao Jie during this time. Du Zi Yu thinks it's for the best, but she's not in the mood to deal with it right now.
Du Zi Yu goes back to the crime scene where Lei Xu was found and investigates again, hoping to find some clues. Zhang Li tells her that she found out that Su Da had a fight with his team coach right before meeting Lei Xu, apparently about a suspension. Du Zi Yu wants to know what Su Da told Lei Xu. She says that Lei Xu called her before the incident, but he hung up before she could answer.
Zhang Li suggests that Lei Xu might have sensed danger at that time. Du Zi Yu asks her to stay late with her tonight. Prosecutor Chen sees Liu Liu and asks her what Du Zi Yu has been up to. Liu Liu is about to answer when Yang Tian calls her over to help.
Du Zi Yu and Zhang Li return to the office, and Yang Tian quickly tells them that she forgot to mention something. Zhou Qiao and Su Da had a fight because of Jiang Xiao Jie. Du Zi Yu asks when it happened, and Yang Tian says it was the day before Jiang Xiao Jie changed her testimony.
Hearing this, Zhang Li remembers that Zhou Qiao officially joined the ZK team the day Su Da died. Du Zi Yu and Zhang Li take turns staying up all night at the abandoned building where Su Da died, hoping to find new clues. Zhou Qiao has a nightmare that someone is trying to kill him. He wakes up in a fright and someone knocks on his door. He opens it and sees Teacher Yu.
At the same time, someone hiding in the shadows sees Teacher Yu arrive and quietly leaves. Du Zi Yu and Zhang Li also find a homeless man. They take him to the police station, where the officer handling the case also has something to tell Du Zi Yu. They tell her that Zhou Qiao's father is dead and that Zhou Qiao and Su Da are connected.
