Episode 2 recap: Lei Xu Faces Challenges in His New Job
In Episode 2, Yun Yun rushed to the rooftop in her school uniform, almost in tears, telling Jiang Xiao Jie, "I really didn't say anything, believe me!" Jiang Xiao Jie, holding a bottle of pills, coldly replied, "Take this and we'll call it even." Frightened, Yun Yun agreed to take the pills, and Jiang Xiao Jie forced them into her mouth, the whole scene captured by the rooftop surveillance camera.
Meanwhile, Lei Xu was woken up by the sounds of his neighbor, Old Zhao the security guard, practicing his Baduanjin exercises in the hallway. Lei Xu good-naturedly told Old Zhao that the "alarm clock" service was quite thoughtful.
Zhang Li came into the office carrying a bucket of water and asked Lei Xu, who was busy moving a desk, if he wanted to switch offices. Yang Tian joked that Lei Xu's office was very peaceful, but Lei Xu insisted on the switch. When Du Zi Yu arrived and suggested the move would promote team bonding, Lei Xu promptly moved the desk back, amusing everyone.
Yang Tian drove Lei Xu to the nearby elementary school for his work. On the way, they saw two minors smoking, and Lei Xu wanted to intervene, but Yang Tian stopped him, saying it wasn't their responsibility. At the school, they found two students trying to extort money, imitating a movie plot. Yang Tian sternly lectured the students, frightening them to tears.
Lei Xu wanted to let them off, but Yang Tian insisted the students learn the severity of their mistake.
Lei Xu felt overwhelmed by the juvenile delinquency work and wanted to transfer departments, but his supervisor encouraged him to achieve results. Yang Tian told him it was normal to have free time, as the 9th Division had just been formed and everyone was busy.
Lei Xu said he couldn't stay idle, and asked about the "legal principal" Yang Tian had mentioned earlier. Though Yang Tian didn't directly answer, Lei Xu understood her meaning.
Meanwhile, Jiang Xiao Jie was playing on her phone at the dinner table, ignoring her mother's scolding. When her mother threatened to smash the phone, Jiang Xiao Jie calmly handed it over, challenging her to support the family with it.
After dinner, the mother forced Jiang Xiao Jie to take vitamins, and Jiang Xiao Jie suppressed her resentment, her hands turning red from gripping them.
To advance the "legal principal" work, Lei Xu went to Linghua Middle School to meet the principal, but was stopped by the security guard. The guard explained the principal was foreign and communication was difficult. Determined, Lei Xu changed into a repairman's outfit and snuck into the school, directly expressing his request to the principal, who politely declined. As Lei Xu left, he encountered a group of scantily-clad minors discussing going to a bar, further strengthening his resolve to do a good job in juvenile delinquency work.
