Episode 7 recap: In Episode 7, Jiang Xiao Jie receives a mysterious phone call
The caller asks her why Lei Xu is looking for her Jiang Xiao Jie assures them everything is fine and tells them to proceed as planned Later, she goes to a locker at the supermarket and, after making sure no one is watching, takes out a large sum of money
Lei Xu confronts Jiang Xiao Jie, questioning how she knew it was Zhang Yun Yun who spread the rumor. Jiang Xiao Jie believes it must be her because no one else saw what happened. She describes Zhang Yun Yun as a people-pleaser who would likely share her secrets to make friends.
Jiang Xiao Jie explains that she doesn't want to be ostracized by her classmates. Lei Xu presses further, asking why. Zhang Yun Yun reveals to Du Zi Yu that the school's atmosphere is bizarre and that she has few friends. She admits to spreading Jiang Xiao Jie's secret because she didn't know who else to confide in. Du Zi Yu asks what she means by "bizarre," and Zhang Yun Yun explains that it's all about who your parents are.
Jiang Xiao Jie is convinced that Zhang Yun Yun is the source of the rumor because she saw her with the medication. Du Zi Yu asks why Jiang Xiao Jie forced her to take the medication, and Zhang Yun Yun simply says she's easy to bully.
Lei Xu asks Jiang Xiao Jie about her relationship with Zhang Yun Yun. She replies that they are just acquaintances. Lei Xu then questions Jiang Lin Hai about his relationship with people he considers acquaintances. Jiang Lin Hai is confused by the question. Lei Xu then shows them the call logs between Jiang Xiao Jie and Zhang Yun Yun, asking what they talked about for so long. Jiang Xiao Jie explains that they were discussing homework.
Lei Xu then tells Jiang Xiao Jie that Zhang Yun Yun is planning to get plastic surgery and asks where she got the 100,000 yuan for the procedure. He then asks Jiang Xiao Jie where she got her 98,000 yuan. Jiang Xiao Jie sits up and tells Lei Xu that both sums of money were given to them by Li Xiao Yan. Lei Xu asks why.
Jiang Xiao Jie explains that her aunt confronted Li Xiao Yan, demanding that the school expel Jiang Xiao Jie because she forced Zhang Yun Yun to take the medication.
Jiang Xiao Jie believes that Li Xiao Yan agreed to give her money because of her own reputation, so she secretly gave Zhang Yun Yun a hush money payment.
Jiang Xiao Jie asks Lei Xu if Zhang Yun Yun really had plastic surgery, wondering if she needed it since she's already grown into her looks. Li Xiao Yan, Lei Xu, and Zhang Li are standing in the hospital corridor talking when suddenly Zhang Yun Yun's aunt rushes over and slaps Li Xiao Yan.
Li Xiao Yan is confused as to why she was slapped. Zhang Yun Yun's aunt says that one slap is not enough, considering how many years Jiang Xiao Jie should be sentenced to. Li Xiao Yan says that she gave Zhang Yun Yun's aunt 200,000 yuan a few days ago, so why is there another aunt now? Lei Xu and Zhang Li feel something is wrong and immediately check the security footage.
They discover that someone impersonated Zhang Yun Yun's aunt, Zhang Jing Nan, and demanded money from Li Xiao Yan. Lei Xu goes to Zhang Jing Nan's house and confirms that the bank card number is the same. Zhang Li quickly calls her colleagues at the police station to investigate the card number. It turns out that Li Xiao Yan did transfer 200,000 yuan to the card, but someone withdrew 50,000 yuan every few days.
Zhang Jing Nan says she never saw this money. Du Zi Yu asks Zhou Qiao if he hacked into the school's network to get the video of Jiang Xiao Jie bullying Zhang Yun Yun. Du Zi Yu asks why he did it, and Zhou Qiao says he doesn't know, only that it was their bargaining chip for money.
With the combined efforts of Lei Xu and his team, they uncover the whole story. It turns out that Jiang Xiao Jie wanted money to leave with her father, and Zhang Yun Yun wanted money for plastic surgery, so they devised this plan. Lei Xu arranges for Jiang Xiao Jie's parents, Zhang Yun Yun's aunt, and Zhou Qiao's parents to sit together for mediation. However, Li Xiao Yan is very unreasonable and immediately blames everyone else for the situation, leading to a failed mediation.
Lei Xu and Du Zi Yu have a separate conversation with Li Xiao Yan, and she realizes that she hasn't paid enough attention to Jiang Xiao Jie.
