Episode 1 recap: Gold Zhang Transfers to a New School and Meets His Goddess
In Episode 1, Gold Zhang, a lively young man, is being chased by a group of boys. He weaves through the alleyways, using his agility to evade them. When a stray can is thrown at him, he skillfully catches it and throws it back, causing the pursuers to retreat. However, fate intervenes, and a toy leads to Gold's footprint being exposed, making him a target once again.
Exhausted, Gold is mysteriously rescued by a young woman, causing the pursuers to scatter.
A month later, as the morning light dawns, Gold is woken up by his brother, who is excited about the business opportunities of face masks. Gold, however, is focused on the challenges of starting high school. His brother reminds him to dress formally, and Gold rushes to school, worried about missing the first day.
Yu Su, a high-performing and low-profile girl, escorts her younger sister to school in the morning. Gold and Yu Su arrive at school almost simultaneously, but while they're both late, fate seems to play a trick on Gold - his name is recorded on the late list, while Yu Su avoids punishment. Gold realizes this is his first lesson in navigating the school's rules.
In the classroom, the homeroom teacher, Chen Xiaohong, formally introduces the new student, Gold. Gold introduces himself in his own unique way - by writing his name on the blackboard, much to the amusement of his classmates. Gold's background at the notorious Black Dragon High School makes him the subject of discussion, while Yu Su sits quietly in the corner, seemingly oblivious.
During P.E. class, Gold feels the subtle exclusion from his classmates, relegated to the sidelines of the basketball court. However, the arrival of Heshang breaks the ice, and he proactively asks Gold for basketball tips, forming a bond. Heshang casually mentions Yu Su's status as the campus heartthrob, as well as his own secret crush on another girl, while Gold's attention is already captured by a girl named Du Sha - the very one who had rescued him that day.
During an English class nap, Gold becomes the laughingstock of the class when he is unable to answer the teacher's questions, only to be saved by Yu Su. Inspired by Heshang, Gold decides to aim for a top 200 rank in the grade, just to get closer to Du Sha.
Around the campus, Gold's attempts to approach Du Sha are met with disdain, but his passion remains undiminished. A classroom incident where Gold is caught reading a comic book and bursts out laughing leads to him and Yu Su receiving "special attention" from the teacher. Afterward, Gold's persistent pursuit of Du Sha continues, even as she grows increasingly frustrated with his frequent tardiness.
