Episode 23 recap: Du Sha Falls for Jin Zhan

In Episode 23, Jin Zhan hurriedly takes Yu Shu's clothes to wash by hand, thinking he’s helping out. However, his attempts only make the clothes dirtier. When Yu Shu sees the mess, he gets furious, and Jin Zhan, scared, quickly makes a run for it. Left without clean clothes, Yu Shu reluctantly puts on one of Jin Zhan's shirts, which has the embarrassing phrase “I’m a Legend” printed on it. This leads to an awkward situation, while Jin Zhan insists it was unintentional.

Meanwhile, Xiao Mei and He Shang are motivating each other for the upcoming college entrance exams. He Shang even expresses his willingness to follow Xiao Mei to her dream school. During a basketball game, the ball heads straight for Du Sha, but Jin Zhan swiftly pushes her out of the way, causing them to get closer. Du Sha blushes and thanks Jin Zhan by handing him a bottle of water. Xiao Mei notices the chemistry and quietly asks Du Sha if she has developed new feelings for Jin Zhan, to which He Shang nods in agreement, pointing out that Du Sha looks at Jin Zhan differently now.

Initially, Du Sha insists it’s just a brotherly bond, but her hidden feelings are hard to conceal. Encouraged by Xiao Mei, she decides to show off her charm. To ease his relationship with Yu Shu, Jin Zhan humorously writes “I’m a Fool” on his own shirt as a form of self-deprecation.

Du Sha dresses up and wears a bow hairpin to visit Jin Zhan, and her gentle demeanor surprises both him and Yu Shu. However, she soon reverts to her usual carefree self, indicating that the sweet persona doesn’t quite fit her.

After school, Du Sha runs into Hong Ze Feng and enthusiastically buys him bubble tea, only to later learn from Xiao Mei that he’s lactose intolerant. Consequently, Hong Ze Feng leaves with a stomachache but doesn’t complain.

That evening, Jin Zhan and Yu Shu are busy in the kitchen when Jin Zhan accidentally rubs his eyes with onion-stained hands, making him tear up. Yu Shu helps him rinse his eyes just as their fathers return home together. Jin Zhan’s dad brings snacks, and although he plans to leave, Yu Shu’s dad insists they should all share a meal together since it’s a rare occasion.

At the dinner table, Jin Zhan suggests a toast, creating a warm atmosphere that seems to ease the tension between their fathers. The kids watch this unfold, feeling happy inside.

It was late at night, and Yu Shu asked Jin Zhan to recite poetry. However, noticing Yu Shu sneezing, Jin Zhan, feeling concerned, urged him to get some rest. Yu Shu might have had a slight fever, and Jin Zhan was anxious as he took care of him. Before Yu Shu went to the teacher's office, he specifically reminded Jin Zhan not to say anything inappropriate. But as soon as Jin Zhan turned around, he sent Yu Shu a picture of himself taking care of Yu Shu while he was sick. In the photo, Yu Shu looked softer than usual, losing his typical sternness.

As graduation approached, everyone started writing messages on their uniforms as mementos. Jin Zhan wanted Yu Shu to sign his shirt, but Yu Shu politely declined. On their way home from school, they chatted about college, with Yu Shu continuously encouraging Jin Zhan. However, when Jin Zhan got home to study, he felt incredibly tired, prompting Yu Shu to playfully draw a few lines on his face.

When Jin Zhan woke up, he looked completely confused. Yu Shu, trying hard not to laugh, watched him struggle. It wasn’t until Jin Zhan went to the mirror that he realized he had been "messed up," leaving him both amused and exasperated.

Xiao Mei encouraged He Shang to pursue his dreams, even if they couldn’t attend the same school. Du Sha also frequently came over to study with Jin Zhan, creating a warm atmosphere.

As the college entrance exams approached, Yu Shu, like a big brother, carefully reminded Jin Zhan to check his study supplies and constantly cheered him on. Although Jin Zhan felt nervous, having Yu Shu by his side made him feel more at ease.
