Episode 7 recap: Yushu Narrowly Avoids Disciplinary Action
In episode 7, Jingzhan was rushing to class when he saw Yushu, and quickly ran away. Yushu chased after him, unable to understand why Jingzhan was avoiding him. The teacher rearranged the seating chart based on the students' grades. Some students did not want to sit in front of or behind Jingzhan, but Heshang and Dusha both volunteered to be seated with him. Yushu also stepped up and offered to help Jingzhan with his studies, which the teacher agreed to.
Jingzhan still hadn't told Heshang that Yushu was the one who originally saved him. Xiaomei kept wanting to ask Jingzhan about Yushu, but Jingzhan didn't know how to respond, and even deliberately tried to create opportunities for Heshang and Xiaomei to sit together. During the joint music class with the other class, some students tried to mess with Jingzhan by having him go up and sing alone. Jingzhan's singing was off-key, so the teacher had to re-teach him. Yushu then volunteered that Jingzhan just needed someone to accompany him, but he still struggled to stay on pitch. Finally, the teacher had the whole class sing together, which helped Jingzhan get back on track.
After going home, Jingzhan told his brother Jingzhao that he used to not care about studying at all, but now the school was really emphasizing student learning, so he had no choice but to work hard, or else he'd drag the whole class down. Jingzhan really cherished Yushu as a good friend and admired him. Jingzhao told his brother to relax and make up with his good friend if they had any conflicts.
In class, Yushu noticed Jingzhan didn't understand some of the teachers' questions, so he would proactively raise his hand to ask for clarification. Afterwards, Jingzhan thanked Yushu, who then shared all his notes for Jingzhan to reference. Jingzhan had actually wanted to talk to Yushu, so this gave him an excuse to invite Yushu to dinner, though he pretended he wasn't inviting him.
Yushu overheard classmates discussing how the school had been catching students who went to internet cafes at night, and many had been disciplined. Jingzhan also learned from Dusha that internet cafes were forbidden on campus.
Yushu was called to the principal's office, and Jingzhan, knowing Yushu had been to the internet cafe, secretly followed and heard the teacher accusing Yushu. Jingzhan then stepped forward and claimed it was actually him who had used Yushu's ID to go to the cafe, in order to protect Yushu. The principal only gave Jingzhan a verbal warning, and left with him.
Yushu dreamed of Jingzhan not forgiving him, but when he woke up, he realized it was just a dream. Jingzhan's brother Jingzhao was called in to be reprimanded by the school, but he put on a show, claiming he hadn't properly educated his brother, in an attempt to lessen the punishment. But when he found out it was just a verbal warning, he hurriedly left to attend to work matters.
Finally, on a rainy day, Yushu and Jingzhan openly discussed their feelings, and agreed to continue being good friends. As for Yushu dressing up as "Little Dumpling," Jingzhan was able to accept that reality. Jingzhan even gave Yushu a drawing he had made. Yushu explained that the first time he saw Jingzhan being bullied, he wanted to help, and was grateful Jingzhan had taken the blame this time.
