In Episode 9, Jin Zhan is still struggling to figure out whether he truly likes Du Sha. He even tries plucking flower petals to confirm his feelings, which is witnessed by He Shang. Jin Zhan then wonders when exactly Yushuo started dating the cafe owner, Hong Jie. Yushuo then snaps him out of his daydreaming with a book.
Jin Zhan deliberately asks Du Sha for her opinion on sibling relationships, and she feels a bit embarrassed, thinking Jin Zhan is asking about their own relationship. Du Sha says it might not be that bad, but Jin Zhan asks about relationships with a 10-year age gap, and Du Sha gets very angry, thinking Jin Zlan has ulterior motives. Jin Zhan also asks his teacher about early relationships, and the teacher doesn't see anything wrong with sibling relationships.
During a gym class, Jin Zhan finishes first in a race and offers to treat everyone to a meal, choosing Yushuo's family's dessert shop as the location. Little Mei shows extra care for Yushuo, even bringing a wet wipe. Jin Zhan tries to play matchmaker between Yushuo and Little Mei, but He Shang directly pulls Jin Zhan aside, as he likes Little Mei himself. Jin Zhan claims he's just gathering intelligence, but He Shang thinks it's like hosting a wedding.
Jin Zlan then makes a series of strange comments, saying that dating at their age is actually a good thing. He's really just trying to gauge Yushuo's attitude towards Little Mei to see if Yushuo has a love interest. Back home, Jin Zlan tells his brother that Yushuo often works part-time at the cafe, but his brother thinks it's a normal thing. Jin Zlan says he's discovered Yushuo's persistence is fake and that he's dating a beautiful woman.
Yushuo goes to play the piano, and Jin Zlan thinks he looks quite handsome. Yushuo is surprised to see Jin Zlan at the cafe, and Jin Zlan says he's also working there. The cafe owner asks what he can do for the cafe, and Jin Zlan says he can improve business, but his only condition is that the owner stays away from Yushuo.
After saying that, Jin Zlan leaves. He's very enthusiastic when serving customers, and even gets his brother to come. To Jin Zlan's surprise, the cafe owner and his brother know each other, and they chat happily. Jin Zlan's real motive is to get Yushuo to give up on his feelings. After seeing the cafe owner, Jin Zlan's brother becomes completely enamored with her and wants to dress up differently every day to see her.
Jin Zlan takes the opportunity to ask Yushuo's sister for information. The cafe owner gave Yushuo his month's wages. Yushuo then gets a call that his sister is hospitalized due to an allergic reaction to chocolate. Jin Zlan feels very guilty, not knowing his sister was allergic to chocolate. Yushuo stays by his sister's side, and their father comes. Jin Zlan quickly apologizes, and Yushuo doesn't blame him, but criticizes Yushuo for taking on a part-time job and missing time with his sister. Jin Zlan has learned his sister's preferences during this time and tells Yushuo, who is very grateful for Jin Zlan's care for his sister.
