Episode 13 recap: Hao Wei Transforms Himself into the Central Bank Branch Manager
In episode 13, Hao Wei secretly met with Zhang Jia Ming and asked him to make copies of Lin Qiang's emails, then immediately gave them to Qian Bo and asked him to pass them on to the higher-ups. Hao Wei's move was quite clever - he chose to meet at a bathhouse, intending to seem open and honest, as he was determined not to simply retire and leave, having already developed a feud with Lin Qiang.
On Lin Qiang's side, he didn't sit idle either. He dispatched Zheng Shuai to investigate a Zhang Bao Shu who had transferred 8 million to Ling Le Le. Zheng Shuai went to the countryside, only to find that Zhang Bao Shu had disappeared. He then checked the bank account, but due to the less advanced technology at the time, just by showing an ID, an account could be easily opened, so the trail went cold.
Zheng Shuai had to return empty-handed and report back to Lin Qiang. Coincidentally, he ran into Zhang Jia Ming eavesdropping, so he simply pulled him in to talk. Zhang Jia Ming revealed that someone was planning to take down Lin Qiang, and Lin Xiao Zao had also heard the rumor from a colleague, greatly alarming her.
Lin Qiang, however, remained calm. He even took Lin Xiao Zao out to dinner, puzzled as to who was scheming against him behind the scenes - the higher-ups' intentions were becoming increasingly difficult to fathom.
Zhu Feng Shan and Chen Xing Yuan called a meeting of all branch managers. Zhu Feng Shan suddenly announced his resignation, causing an uproar in the room. Immediately after, Chen Xing Yuan dropped another bombshell, saying that the headquarters had appointed Hao Wei to set up a new central branch, specifically to manage the industrial park area. Lin Qiang was stunned when he heard this. Hao Wei then took the stage and delivered an impassioned speech, creating quite a lively scene.
After the meeting, Hao Wei proactively approached Lin Qiang, thanking him for selecting some good personnel, and also mentioned merging the Long Yuan branch. Lin Qiang couldn't be bothered to listen to Hao Wei's rambling and simply drove off. Zhu Feng Shan intercepted Lin Qiang's car on the way, opening his heart to him, saying he didn't want to repeat Xia Xin's fate and could only retreat for now. Lin Qiang understood clearly that someone was trying to force him out, but he was determined to get to the bottom of Wen Hu Group's shady accounts. He promised that within three months, he would have it all figured out, and then Zhu Feng Shan would have to come back.
On Hao Wei's side, with the personnel selected by Lin Qiang, the central branch was soon up and running smoothly. Zhang Jia Ming took a roundabout route to meet with Hao Wei, and Hao Wei urged him to quickly find some dirt on Lin Qiang, also introducing the new deputy manager Yuan Guan Kui for him to get acquainted with.
When Zhang Jia Ming saw this setup, he became furious, feeling that he had been played by Hao Wei. Hao Wei coaxed and cajoled him, saying that Yuan Guan Kui was nothing to be afraid of, and they still needed to continue cooperating. Zhang Jia Ming understood that Hao Wei was not trustworthy, and decided to turn against him.
The headquarters audit team came to the Long Yuan branch to check the accounts, and Lin Qiang fully cooperated, letting the employees go on vacation while he stayed behind to handle things. On his first day, Yuan Guan Kui kept rambling on, but Hao Wei interrupted him, urging everyone to sell financial products, boasting that they would defeat Lin Qiang within three months.
On Lin Qiang's side, he took the employees to the seaside on tractors, full of laughter and joy, completely unfazed.
Hao Wei and Yuan Guan Kui also went to meet with the chairman of the board, Xing Li. Hao Wei was so nervous that he could hardly speak coherently, and when Yuan Guan Kui wanted to lower the loan interest rate, Xing Li was worried about repeating the Wen Hu fiasco, so Hao Wei quickly made an excuse to escape.
Xing Li warned Chen Xing Yuan not to engage in internal strife, and that no matter what, the two branches must be merged within three months.
At the seaside, Lin Qiang's group played a game of "truth or dare," the atmosphere light and happy. Although they were privately concerned about being swallowed up by the central branch, at the moment they just wanted to enjoy the present.
On Hao Wei's side, he was busy drumming up deposits, full of confidence in his plan to defeat Lin Qiang and achieve the merger. However, Lin Qiang and his team, with their unity and optimism, were quietly writing their own counterattack story.
