Episode 16 recap: Lin Qiang and Hao Wei Clash
In Episode 16, Chen Xing Yuan invites Xing Li to a farewell banquet. After several rounds of drinks, he takes the opportunity to mention Lin Qiang's large-scale project with Huayu Bank. Xing Li repeatedly declines and complains that Chen Xing Yuan should not have given the Hebei Steel loan project to Lin Qiang, saying that Dragon Source Branch's deposit-taking capacity is limited and unable to handle such a major task.
Qian Bo stokes the flames, further escalating the tense atmosphere. Chen Xing Yuan becomes so upset that Xing Li ends up leaving the dinner early, with Hao Wei waiting for him outside.
On the other side, Chen Xing Yuan advises Qin Zheng to transfer Yuan Guan Kui away from Hao Wei to avoid being implicated, but Qin Zheng wants Yuan Guan Kui to gain more experience. Zhu Feng Shan then persuades Chen Xing Yuan to give up the Huayu Bank project to avoid being held accountable by the headquarters. But Chen Xing Yuan remains unmoved and plans to file a complaint against Qiu Zhi Zhang. Xing Li also does not back down, instructing Qian Bo to go to the patriarch and accuse Chen Xing Yuan.
Hao Wei is in a state of distress over Lin Qiang's situation. Qian Bo advises him to stay calm, and Hao Wei becomes so anxious that he almost cries before finally expressing what's on his mind. It turns out that before Qian Cai was arrested, he gave his wife a gym membership card that contained key information about the Wenhu Group's loans.
After discovering this, Qian's wife rushes to Dragon Source Branch to find Lin Qiang, and on the way, she is followed. Lin Qiang, realizing the importance of the information, immediately arranges for Zheng Shuai to hide the documents and makes a copy to hand over to the police. He then takes Qian's wife away, but they are followed again. Lin Qiang decisively warns the pursuers and takes down their license plate.
Under pressure, Chen Xing Yuan transfers the loan project that Lin Qiang had secured to Hao Wei, much to the indignation of Zheng Shuai and others. Although angry, Lin Qiang can only accept the reality and carefully examines the documents, discovering issues with Xing Li's involvement in the Wenhu Group's loans.
Chen Xing Yuan and Xing Li jointly seek a resolution from Qiu Zhi Zhang. Chen Xing Yuan, citing the Wenhu Group fraud case, demands that Xing Li resign. Xing Li counter-attacks, pulling Zhang Longhu into the fray and accusing Chen Xing Yuan.
Qiu Zhi Zhang decides that if the Wenhu fraud case is unrelated to Chen Xing Yuan, then Xing Li must resign. He also criticizes Chen Xing Yuan for being too aggressive, proposing to merge the Dragon Source Branch and the Dragon Source Central Branch, and requiring Chen Xing Yuan not to raise the issue of separation again for six months.
Zhu Feng Shan waits outside for Chen Xing Yuan and advises him not to resign. The three later convene a on-site meeting at the Dragon Source Central Branch, where Hao Wei proposes a merger. Lin Qiang firmly opposes, believing the timing is not right. During the meeting, Hao Wei and Lin Qiang confront each other, with Hao Wei's use of improper means to snatch projects being exposed.
Zhu Feng Shan supports Lin Qiang, and the Dragon Source Branch employees also actively work overtime to lend a hand. Hao Wei is not optimistic about Lin Qiang's project with Huayu Bank and wants to give it up, but Yuan Guan Kui believes it's worth a try. Hao Wei resolutely refuses to touch anything "eaten" by Lin Qiang, even using harsh words towards Yuan Guan Kui, causing him to angrily resign and join the Dragon Source Branch.
Despite facing numerous difficulties, Lin Qiang remains calm and composed, and the Dragon Source Branch employees are united in their efforts to support Lin Qiang's project. Lin Xiao Zao even thoughtfully brings Lin Qiang a beef soup, creating a warm team atmosphere. The battle between Hao Wei and Lin Qiang has only just begun.
