Episode 23 recap: Xing Li Dismisses Lin Qiang
In Episode 23, Lin Qiang hits the ground running as he takes office, diving straight into the investigation of the Wenhu Group's loan fraud case. He reinstates the oversight department that Xing Li had disbanded. Meanwhile, Qian Bo goes to great lengths to protect Xing Li, even going so far as to forge evidence to frame Chen Xing Yuan. In a twist, Xing Li uses a mysterious overseas account to transfer funds to Chen Xing Yuan, attempting to create confusion.
Lin Qiang tirelessly works to clear Chen Xing Yuan's name, unaware that he is walking into a trap set by the Public Security Bureau. Once the evidence is submitted, Xing Li and Qian Bo become flustered. They resort to their overseas account for the first time, transferring eight million to Xia Xin's daughter. This leads to Xia Xin and his wife’s arrest, though they are quickly released, clearly a warning.
Chen Xing Yuan steps up to support Lin Qiang, even suggesting he resign to pressure Xing Li. In response, Xing Li turns his attacks on Chen Xing Yuan, while Ling Chen expresses gratitude to Lin Qiang, revealing that this whole situation was part of their carefully orchestrated "performance."
Upon learning the truth, Lin Qiang feels a mix of emotions, upset that Chen Xing Yuan and Ling Chen didn't inform him beforehand. Chen Xing Yuan urges him to keep it confidential, noting that even Zhu Feng Shan is in the dark. Lin Qiang took the vice president position to leverage his power to uncover the Wenhu Group's fraud.
As the truth begins to surface, he is eager to resign and leave. Late at night, Lin Qiang unexpectedly finds Qiu Zhi Zhang and Xing Li waiting for him. Xing Li insists that Chen Xing Yuan is the mastermind behind everything and demands a personnel change and an audit. Lin Qiang firmly opposes this, advocating for a board procedure for any personnel changes, convinced of Chen Xing Yuan's innocence. The two engage in a heated argument, with Xing Li even accusing Lin Qiang of trying to win over support, threatening to resign himself.
Qiu Zhi Zhang attempted to mediate, but both sides were too emotional to de-escalate the situation. Lin Qiang expressed his preference to return to Longyuan Bank, but insisted that any dismissal must follow proper procedures. Qiu Zhi Zhang agreed to consider the situation and asked to speak privately with Lin Qiang. He, too, believed in Chen Xing Yuan's innocence and thought that Xing Li was resorting to desperate measures under pressure.
Lin Qiang suggested holding a board meeting soon to expose Xing Li's crimes, warning that otherwise, Xing Li would have the opportunity to cover up the Wenhu Group's financial black hole. Despite the mounting pressure from Xing Li and Qian Bo, Lin Qiang remained steadfast. Qian Bo personally approached Lin Qiang in an attempt to force him to resign, but Lin Qiang confronted him, unmasking his schemes to frame others.
Left with no choice, Qian Bo confessed to Qiu Zhi Zhang and provided evidence of Xing Li's bribery. Chen Xing Yuan also sought out Qiu Zhi Zhang, expressing his determination to stand independently, leading Qiu Zhi Zhang to ultimately compromise.
Xing Li decided to conceal the news of Chen Xing Yuan's release and quickly dismissed Lin Qiang, appointing Qian Bo as his replacement. Upon taking over, Qian Bo was shocked and felt innocent as he faced a series of problematic loans, particularly the shell loans from the Wu Da Group. It turned out these loans had been signed under Xing Li's pressure, while Chen Xing Yuan had refused to sign.
As the oversight department's investigation deepened, Qian Bo began to grasp the severity of the situation, realizing he might follow in Qian Cai's footsteps. Meanwhile, Lin Qiang partnered with Mo Xi Jun on a new project—a flight simulation experience center—that showed promising prospects. Under immense pressure, Qian Bo gradually approached the edge of the truth. All of this was part of Lin Qiang's careful strategy, hoping to encourage Qian Bo to reveal the truth and avoid more severe consequences.
