Episode 3 recap: Episode 3: Lin Qiang is Forced to Make a Promise
Zhu Feng Shan's visit to Lin Qiang wasn't about the minor issue of playing cards and taking off pants. He was there to persuade Lin Qiang to head to Qinglong Mountain to set up a branch office, urging him not to waste his prime years on internal office politics. Lin Qiang vehemently protested, refusing the assignment. He felt he was being unfairly targeted as a thorn in their side simply for questioning two loans handled by Qian Cai and Hao Wei. Zhu Feng Shan explained the consequences, but Lin Qiang remained unyielding.
Xiao Xiao, learning about Lin Qiang's impending transfer, rallied the female tellers to plead with Zhu Feng Shan. They demanded to be transferred with Lin Qiang, threatening to resign en masse if their request was denied. Zhu Feng Shan refused, telling them to submit their applications to the head office. Zhang Jia Ming, upon hearing the news, immediately called Hao Wei for help and then sent Zhu Feng Shan off with a flattering smile.
Lin Qiang called a staff meeting, scolding Lin Xiao Zao and others for their impulsiveness. He encouraged them to promote the small change investment product at the university. Zhang Jia Ming took notes and reported the meeting content to Hao Wei. Xiao Xiao sarcastically mocked him, while Zheng Shuai secretly recorded the meeting on his phone.
Zheng Shuai found a document from the head office stating that any business staff member who could secure five hundred million yuan in deposits within a month would be promoted to the next level. Xiao Xiao rallied everyone to work together to keep Lin Qiang, but Zhang Jia Ming dismissed it as impossible. Lin Qiang, however, vowed to complete the task within a week.
Zhang Jia Ming eavesdropped on Lin Xiao Zao and the others, reporting their conversation to Hao Wei. He also revealed Lin Qiang's goal of securing five hundred million yuan. Lin Xiao Zao and Xiao Xiao, along with others, started calling their friends and family to solicit deposits. They were used to a comfortable life and wanted to secure as much money as possible for Lin Qiang.
Zheng Shuai, worried that Lin Qiang wouldn't be able to meet the target, advised him to seek help from Xia Xin. Lin Qiang, however, didn't want to trouble her. Fu, the owner of several deep-sea fishing companies specializing in catching hairtail, wanted to secure a loan from the bank. He took Lin Qiang to the docks to explain the different types of hairtail and their sales. He even offered Lin Qiang samples of various types to taste. Lin Qiang, concerned about the risk, demanded that Fu put up his company shares as collateral.
Lin Qiang called his old clients to deposit money at the Longyuan branch. They fully supported his work, and he secured millions in deposits in just the morning. Xia Xin arrived at the Longyuan branch with her husband, Ling Chen, and their daughter, Ling Le Le, in the early morning. She expressed her gratitude to Lin Qiang for helping Ling Le Le escape from the clutches of danger. Zhang Jia Ming hid in the shadows, recording their conversation.
Ling Chen, the head of the first division of the Linhai City Financial Regulatory Department, inquired about the "Spare Change" investment product in detail. He praised Lin Qiang's ideas. Before leaving, Xia Xin reminded Lin Qiang to be cautious and promised to help him find a way back to the head office if he wished to return.
Zeng Baichuan, the general manager of the audit department of the Linhai branch, personally led a team to inspect the Longyuan branch. Zhu Feng Shan personally guided them, and Zhang Jia Ming swore to Zeng Baichuan that he would fully cooperate with his work. Lin Qiang begged Zhu Feng Shan to stay and support him, but Zhu Feng Shan assured him that he would be fine. Zeng Baichuan reviewed the Longyuan branch's accounts from two years ago, demanding explanations from Lin Qiang. However, Lin Qiang had no knowledge of these accounts, as he hadn't been transferred to the Longyuan branch at that time.
Zhang Jia Ming, learning from the audit staff that Zeng Baichuan would be staying at the Longyuan branch for a week, secretly rejoiced. Lin Qiang would be busy entertaining the audit team and wouldn't have time to solicit deposits. Lin Qiang, wanting to go out and secure new clients, tried to leave, but Zeng Baichuan refused.
