Episode 4 recap: Hao Wei Schemes Against Lin Qiang
Zeng Baichuan tries everything he can to stop Lin Qiang from going out to attract deposits. He uses a bunch of excuses, but Lin Qiang sees through his act. He knows Zeng Baichuan is just trying to stall him so he can't reach his goal of five hundred million in a week. The audit department staff check the security footage from the teller counters and accuse the tellers of having a bad attitude. Lin Xiao Zao argues with them, convinced that Hao Wei is behind this, trying to sabotage Lin Qiang.
Zeng Baichuan makes the employees work overtime to finish the audit quickly. Lin Qiang is furious. Just as Lin Xiao Zao predicted, Hao Wei is secretly causing trouble, using the audit team to hold Lin Qiang back. Lin Xiao Zao and the others are upset on his behalf, but Lin Qiang acts like nothing is wrong and plays video games with Zheng Shuai. They come to find him, and he tries to calm them down.
Lin Qiang discovers that Zhang Jia Ming has claimed over eight thousand yuan in expenses in a single month. He calls Zhang Jia Ming in for an explanation, but Zhang Jia Ming makes excuses. Lin Qiang doesn't believe him. Zhang Jia Ming calls Hao Wei, who is pretending to be sick, and complains, begging him to come back and deal with Lin Qiang. Hao Wei hangs up before he finishes.
Lin Qiang intentionally makes Zeng Baichuan work late and discovers that Hao Wei has a lot of questionable activities. Zeng Baichuan has no choice but to leave with the audit team.
Hao Wei and Zeng Baichuan are in the sauna together. Lin Qiang and Zheng Shuai disguise themselves as massage therapists and enter their room. Zhang Jia Ming tries to stop them, but it's too late. Lin Qiang and Zheng Shuai tell Hao Wei about everything that's been happening at the bank, going into great detail. Hao Wei is annoyed.
Zeng Baichuan tells Qian Cai about Lin Qiang's actions. Qian Cai's wife overhears their conversation and learns that they're both scheming against Lin Qiang. She stands up for Lin Qiang, but Qian Cai goes back into the house after she finishes speaking.
Hao Wei was caught by Lin Qiang pretending to be sick, so he was forced to come to work early. Lin Qiang reported the company's recent situation to him. Hao Wei first affirmed Lin Qiang's work ability and took the initiative to befriend him. Lin Qiang smiled and chatted with him.
Lin Qiang found a problem with a loan handled by Hao Wei. He suspected that the boss, Wang Kaiyun, was using the loan to funnel money back to the company. Wang Kaiyun had applied for a loan of nine million yuan from Longyuan Branch under the pretext of repairing fishing boats, but the money was not used for boat repairs at all. Every month, a sum of money was returned to the main company. Lin Qiang also discovered that other shareholders of the company had applied for loans of different amounts from the bank. He suspected they were using the bank's money to patch up holes elsewhere. Hao Wei refuted Lin Qiang's claims, arguing that Wang Kaiyun had a good credit history and repaid his loans on time. He also advised Lin Qiang not to make malicious assumptions. Lin Qiang left reluctantly.
The two branches under the Baisha Branch were going to merge. The branch manager heard that Lin Qiang had attracted 140 million yuan in deposits in a short period of time and that he was being ostracized at Longyuan Branch. He called Zheng Shuai and asked her to persuade Lin Qiang to become the branch manager of the merged branch. Lin Qiang was not interested.
Hao Wei went to Zhu Feng Shan to complain and asked him to transfer Lin Qiang. Zhu Feng Shan praised Lin Qiang's strong business capabilities and advised Hao Wei not to miss out on this talent. Hao Wei sent Zhang Jia Ming to do some ideological work among the employees, telling them to stay away from Lin Qiang. Zhang Jia Ming had private conversations with the female tellers one by one, reminding them not to get too close to Lin Qiang. He also revealed that Hao Wei would soon get rid of Lin Qiang and that he would take over as deputy branch manager.
Tomorrow was the deadline for Lin Qiang's promise of five hundred million yuan in a week. He had only achieved 140 million yuan. Zhu Feng Shan persuaded Lin Qiang to become the deputy branch manager of the Financial Street Central Branch, which Lin Qiang naturally welcomed. He wanted to find out the truth behind Wang Kaiyun's company's loan before leaving.
Hao Wei heard that Zhang Jia Ming was spreading rumors that he would take over as deputy branch manager. He gave Zhang Jia Ming a severe reprimand. Zhang Jia Ming had no performance and was not strong enough to handle the position of deputy branch manager. Zhang Jia Ming complained to Hao Wei and begged him to fulfill his promise. He had already boasted to his wife and children. Hao Wei reluctantly agreed to help him apply to the head office after Lin Qiang left.
