Episode 14 recap: Pan Shiyu and Her Classmates Get into Their Dream High School

In Episode 14, Director Li learns that Teacher An Yan is from Heping Middle School, which sparks his interest because Zhang Nan is also an alumnus of that school. It’s clear they share similar educational philosophies. After the first day of the high school entrance exams, Teacher An Yan asks her students how they felt about the test. Pan Shiyu admits it was quite challenging, and An Yan gently encourages her, reminding everyone to let go of today and give their all for tomorrow’s exam.

Meanwhile, Director Li conducts a surprise inspection at Yutong Middle School and discovers that Principal Zhou Yi is absent frequently. This infuriates him, and he insists on implementing a clock-in policy at the meeting, assigning Wang Xi to oversee its enforcement in an effort to tighten management.

At the same time, Teacher Cong Jun Sheng patiently teaches Zhang Hongyang how to read and write. Hongyang makes rapid progress and can now write his own name. After some effort, Lu Guang Bin successfully helps Hongyang obtain a disability certificate and social security benefits, providing him with a strong support system. As summer vacation approaches, Cong Jun Sheng promises to keep an eye on Hongyang and frequently visit Gouxi Village.

When An Yan returns home, her mother mentions that some parents want to buy the notes of outstanding students. An Yan hesitates at first but then realizes this might help the students' families and agrees to the idea. Shortly after, Nuan Nuan accompanies An Yan to Gouxi Village, where Lu Guang Bin warmly shows her the beautiful countryside. Nuan Nuan enjoys herself until sunset, when she falls asleep peacefully.

Lu Guang Bin privately asks An Yan about her relationship with Cong Jun Sheng. An Yan clarifies that they share a deep teacher-student bond, with no other intentions.

On the day of the results, An Yan is anxious about her students' scores and frequently checks her phone. Lu Guang Bin gathers the courage to propose rekindling their relationship, but An Yan has moved on and responds calmly.

Principal Zhou brings good news: Pan Shiyu and several other students have made the list of accepted students. An Yan is moved to tears and immediately informs Pan Shiyu, suggesting they sell the notes to help cover her high school tuition.

Eventually, An Yan hands the notes over to the students’ parents, ensuring the funds go directly to Pan Shiyu. Director Li finds Zhang Nan, who fondly recalls how An Yan selflessly helped him during difficult times: when his parents were away for work and his grandmother was seriously ill, he often went hungry at school until An Yan discovered his situation and applied for a scholarship, allowing him to enjoy hot meals.

Zhang Nan deeply appreciates this kindness and decides to return to his hometown after graduation to give back. Pan Shiyu receives a government scholarship of ten thousand yuan, becoming a source of pride for her village. The village head wants to throw a celebration banquet, but Pan Shiyu politely declines. After some persuasion from the secretary, the village head respects her decision.

An Yan and Pan Shiyu climb to the top of a mountain, where Pan Shiyu asks An Yan to open her university acceptance letter. This moment reminds An Yan of when she helped Zhang Nan with his acceptance letter, filling her with nostalgia and pride for her students' growth and accomplishments.

Reflecting on the past, An Yan insists on a simple celebration. Zhang Nan even cooks a meal himself to thank everyone who has helped him, especially An Yan. He knows that without her guidance and support, he might have ended up working menial jobs. Similarly, Pan Shiyu decides not to sell her notes but to donate them to the school, hoping this valuable resource will inspire younger students to get into their dream high schools as a heartfelt thank-you to Teacher An Yan.
