Episode 15 recap: Cong Jun Sheng Stays at Peace Middle School for Love
In Episode 15, Cong Jun Sheng's loan period is about to end, and he approaches Principal Zhou to request a permanent position at the school. Principal Zhou had already been considering this but was hesitant to bring it up. Now that Cong has taken the initiative, Zhou eagerly submits a request to higher authorities.
An Yan arranges for Pan Shiyu to stay in a house near the school, allowing her to care for her mother. Knowing that Pan is reluctant to live there, An Yan uses their previous method: they sign a contract for the rental, with the understanding that Pan can pay the rent after graduation.
An Yan and Director Wang visit the education bureau, where An Yan immediately recognizes him from their brief encounter at the exam hall. During the meeting, An Yan faces a series of questions. When asked about the difference between her daughter Nuan Nuan and left-behind children, An Yan reflects on this issue. Although she and her daughter see each other infrequently, their love and care have only grown. In contrast, left-behind children lack the same level of attention and affection.
Director Li reviews An Yan's article and provides feedback, pointing out areas for improvement. He expresses interest in having her take the position of principal at a new poverty alleviation school. An Yan is taken aback, feeling that there are many others more qualified than her, and asks for time to consider the offer. After the meeting, Director Wang praises An Yan for catching the leadership's attention but mentions the challenging conditions at the new school.
Noticing Wang’s indirect approach, he eventually admits he doesn’t want her to leave, as the school relies on her. Wang returns to the school and asks Principal Zhou to find a way to keep An Yan. They discuss using a promotion to retain her, but Cong Jun Sheng overhears this and feels a pang of reluctance.
Cong Jun Sheng seeks out Principal Tian to formally request to stay at Peace Middle School. Meanwhile, An Yan informs her parents about the new poverty alleviation school, but they are hesitant, concerned about the high pressure and management challenges she would face there.
Just then, Lu Guang Bin visits Nuan Nuan, encouraging An Yan to follow her heart regarding her decision to move to the city. He reflects on the unpredictability of life, noting that he initially disagreed with An Yan staying in the countryside, but now finds himself there while she contemplates a move to the city.
Cong Jun Sheng specially visits his sister, who can't help but nag him about his love life. When she learns that he will be discussing something with a female teacher soon, she immediately perks up.
Teacher Li arrives at the shop as scheduled, and his sister mistakenly thinks that the girl in front of her is the one Cong Jun Sheng is interested in, imagining her as her future sister-in-law. Cong Jun Sheng has cooked noodles specially for Teacher Li, who admires him more and more, seeing him as a potential husband and praising his culinary skills.
Teacher Li has come to the city to look at houses, feeling pressured by her parents. She hopes that Cong Jun Sheng, being a city person, can help her choose a place. However, Cong Jun Sheng is entirely focused on tutoring his students and firmly declines to assist her.
Director Li has called in staff from various regions to discuss the issue of clocking in at work. He suggests that if kindergartens extend their hours to match parents' work schedules, it would alleviate the difficulties of picking up and dropping off children, while also supporting the implementation of policies aimed at rural development.
Cong Jun Sheng asks An Yan if she plans to move to the poverty alleviation school. An Yan feels conflicted; she has developed feelings for her current place but also wants to return to the city for her child, Nuan Nuan, who has had very little companionship growing up. Cong Jun Sheng senses her dilemma and encourages her to consider what she truly wants from a fair perspective.
Last time, Li Qin had deliberately asked An Yan to accompany her to the city to look at houses, subtly trying to find out Cong Jun Sheng's whereabouts. An Yan quickly realizes that Li Qin likes him, but the emotionally oblivious Cong Jun Sheng is unaware and thinks An Yan is joking.
It finally dawns on him why he keeps running into Li Qin. Principal Tian approaches Cong Jun Sheng's sister to complain that Cong Jun Sheng has given up the opportunity to teach in the county for the sake of pursuing a relationship, choosing instead to stay at Peace Middle School in the village. His sister is thrilled, realizing that her dense brother has finally woken up to love.
