Episode 3 recap: Lu Min Resigns
In Episode 3, Zhou Sheng Jie informs Cong Jun Sheng that An Yan has taken an unexpected day off and asks if he could cover her class. Concerned, Cong Jun Sheng immediately agrees to help. Upon entering the classroom, the students are curious about the new teacher, but the sudden change leaves them a bit unsettled, with some even dozing off.
Meanwhile, An Yan returns home with her daughter Nuan Nuan, planning to pick her up again the next day. Seeing her mother's worried expression makes An Yan feel guilty for having neglected Nuan Nuan over the years. She confesses to her mother that she feels she owes her daughter and wants to spend more time with her. An Yan also opens up about her divorce, sharing the truth with Nuan Nuan without holding back.
The next day, An Yan arrives at school with Nuan Nuan, and Cong Jun Sheng learns about An Yan's divorce from the girl. He quietly thinks about how he might offer support. An Yan has a strict teaching style, requiring students who get answers wrong to run laps outside. While Cong Jun Sheng finds this a bit harsh, An Yan believes it’s important for kids to acknowledge their mistakes and learn from them.
Recently, Fang Hui has been feeling down, and when An Yan speaks with her privately, she discovers that some teachers are offering after-school tutoring for pay. Fang Hui's family struggles financially, making it hard for her to afford this, forcing her to stay up late studying on her own. An Yan empathizes with the teachers' challenges but is more concerned about the unfair treatment of students. She approaches the tutor to discuss mutual understanding and offers to help within her means.
Just as An Yan prepares to tutor Fang Hui, she learns that Cong Jun Sheng is also providing free tutoring for students, which brings her relief. However, the school suddenly receives reports about numerous teachers conducting home tutoring, raising concerns for the principal. Fearing repercussions from the education bureau, An Yan takes the initiative at a meeting to propose a ban on private tutoring by teachers.
This decision sparks strong discontent among the staff, especially those with family responsibilities, who find it hard to accept. Cong Jun Sheng is misunderstood as being indifferent, but he clarifies that An Yan is also offering free tutoring. Ultimately, the school officially implements a rule prohibiting teachers from tutoring privately.
Faced with this policy, Teacher Lu Min reflects deeply and decides to leave for a position at a private school. Though she feels a strong attachment to her students, financial pressures force her hand. The students are confused and angry, believing they are being abandoned due to poverty. An Yan candidly shares her own experiences, explaining how her long-distance marriage fell apart and how she neglected her child's growth.
She emphasizes that despite personal hardships, teachers have a responsibility to stay in school and help children escape their difficult circumstances and pursue a better future. Inspired by her words, the other teachers express their commitment to remain and work for their students' futures. Despite the challenges, they believe that with love in their hearts, they can overcome any obstacles.
