Episode 30 recap: Fang Xiang's Tragic Sacrifice to Save a Student

In Episode 30, Yu Li Juan is thrilled to learn that she won’t have to teach a single class, so she rushes to school to thank An Yan. An Yan explains that, to take care of her health, she has arranged for her to work as an office clerk. However, due to recent policy changes, the salary for clerical positions is now lower than that of her previous teaching role, which immediately causes Yu Li Juan to feel anxious.

An Yan mentions that she only discovered the low wages at the school after encountering Yu Li Juan's situation, and reassures her that she need not worry. An Yan will help find someone to assist her because her health is the priority. If Yu Li Juan wishes to return to teaching and complete her educational responsibilities, her previous salary will be reinstated.

Lu Guang Bin suggests to the investors that they should sign a twenty-year contract directly with the residents. This way, they can manage the renovation project themselves, and the residents will be happy to stay at the guesthouses after receiving training, ensuring that local culture and characteristics are preserved. Later, Lu Guang Bin informs the residents about the guesthouse progress, highlighting the attractive rental income. However, the residents are concerned about being cheated when signing contracts with the investors, while the operators worry about losing their properties, raising concerns over renovation costs and operational losses. Both parties agree that signing a contract with the government would provide them with peace of mind.

Meanwhile, Yu Li Juan secretly prepares her lessons at home, realizing that pretending to be ill could jeopardize her future, so she reluctantly accepts the school’s arrangement. Director Li informs Lu Guang Bin about the guesthouse solution: the residents will unite to form the Yaxi Village Committee, and a new property management company will be established in Dansha District to sign contracts directly with the operators.

Fang Xiang and Pei Qiu Yun return from a sourcing trip, delighted to hear that Tao Kun and others have been sentenced. At this moment, Pei Qiu Yun receives good news from Zhou Bizhu, who successfully interviewed for a position at an advertising company. Lu Guang Bin makes a special trip from the countryside to bring agricultural products for An Yan. An Yan decides to stop hiding her relationship and openly shares that she plans to marry Cong Jun Sheng. She mentions that her daughter, Nuan Nuan, is most worried about her father. Lu Guang Bin is touched by this and expresses his willingness to support An Yan in building a new family, while also worrying that if An Yan has children with Cong Jun, her feelings for Nuan Nuan might change. An Yan reassures him that her love for Nuan Nuan will remain unchanged.

An Yan and Cong Jun Sheng officially register their marriage and distribute wedding candies to the teachers. Pei Qiu Yun jokes that she hopes Yu Li Juan will hurry back, as she, a single girl, is overwhelmed with four classes and has no time for romance. At that moment, Yu Li Juan walks in with a smile, stating that her students should not be neglected. She has fully recovered and, during her month off, she often thought about the school, contrary to her previous assumptions about having a carefree time.

Cong Jun Sheng suddenly shows his marriage certificate to his sister. She remarks that he’s already married but doesn’t even have a house, showing a lack of decorum. She then hands him her savings to help him buy a home. Every time she thinks about her brother becoming a stepfather to someone else, it doesn’t sit well with her, and she defends him, promising to protect him if An Yan ever bullies him.

Pei Qiu Yun arrives at Zhou Bizhu’s workplace, where Zhou has been tasked with designing the enrollment brochure for the upcoming swimming interest class. Although Fang Xiang is repeatedly dissatisfied with the design, Zhou’s skills improve through the revisions. To please her client, Zhou makes multiple changes. While at a restaurant, Zhou overhears Tao Qiang enticing students to work at a nightclub and quickly takes a photo to send to Fang Xiang.

As Tao Qiang leads a female student away, Zhou follows them. Just as the student is about to step inside the club, Zhou intervenes. Tao Qiang initially intends to teach Zhou a lesson, but Fang Xiang comes to her rescue. Frustrated at losing the female student, Tao Qiang fights with Fang Xiang. Zhou helps the student escape, and just as she is about to call the police, Fang Xiang is stabbed by Tao Qiang and collapses, bleeding profusely.

Fang Xiang is rushed to the hospital, where An Yan and Zhou Bizhu wait anxiously. Due to excessive blood loss, Fang Xiang passes away, prompting the education bureau to take notice and launch a citywide manhunt for Tao Qiang. Director Li proposes to honor Fang Xiang as a martyr. The education bureau and students from the entire school come to pay their last respects. Fang Xiang’s parents are inconsolable, mourning their son who has passed away before them.

Zhou Bizhu stands at a distance holding a portrait of Fang Xiang, reflecting on all he has done for her with deep regret. Fast forward to 2019, Principal Li takes over Fang Xiang’s position to continue his legacy. Pan Shiyu hurriedly seeks out An Yan after receiving her admission letter from East China University. She recalls An Yan’s words about how studying medicine might help save her mother, which has been her goal ever since. Now accepted into a combined undergraduate and doctoral program with various scholarships, she has more than enough to cover her tuition for the coming years.
