Episode 7 recap: # Tang Rui Xiong Protects An Yan
In this episode, An Yan arrives in the countryside and is taken aback when she sees villagers bathing near the pigpen, especially as a group of pigs watches her. Feeling uncomfortable, she asks her student Qiu Yun to keep watch at the entrance to ensure some privacy. Meanwhile, the students enthusiastically finish their farm chores, particularly rice planting, which they accomplish much faster than in previous years. The joy and sense of achievement on the children's faces signify that they can now dedicate more time to their studies.
As night falls, the family gathers for a warm and harmonious dinner. However, this peace is disrupted by a quarrel between two children over a piece of meat. As the argument escalates, the adults intervene with belts to stop the chaos. An Yan feels a mix of emotions, knowing that the underlying issue is the children's desire for attention, compounded by parental favoritism.
Determined to make a difference, An Yan encourages the children to change their fates through education, promising her full support for their dreams. This promise inspires the children, filling them with hope for the future. They excitedly shout their simple yet heartfelt dreams in the mountains—wishing for their teacher to eat chicken legs every day.
An Yan reflects on her past, feeling a pang of sorrow as she compares herself to these resilient students. She pays special attention to a student who lost an arm in an accident; despite life's hardships, he remains optimistic, deeply touching An Yan's heart.
However, tranquility does not last long. A shocking incident occurs, stemming from parents' irrational behavior that harms the teacher and clouds Guangran's heart. In the face of parental threats and coercion, An Yan chooses understanding and compassion, recognizing that the path of education is long and that the mindset shaped by poverty must be addressed.
Back at school, An Yan faces setbacks in her career but does not lose heart. Although the principal's suggestion is well-meaning, it adds to her pressure. Guangran's brave stand, while not entirely resolving the situation, helps bring the truth to light. Tang Rui Xiong's support shows An Yan the deep bond and trust between teachers and students. His past struggles and current determination fuel An Yan's resolve to continue.
Unfortunately, Tang Rui Xiong's eventual departure leaves An Yan feeling regretful. She tries to find him in hopes of offering more help, but the parents' helplessness and the harshness of reality make her efforts seem futile. While Tang Rui Xiong's mother makes her choice out of love, it also reveals a resignation to fate.
An Yan realizes that changing a person's destiny is far more difficult than she had imagined, yet she never gives up, firmly believing in the power of education to light the way forward. This experience strengthens her conviction that, no matter how challenging the road ahead may be, she must uphold her role as an educator and help every child’s dreams take flight, allowing them to soar into a brighter future.
