In Episode 2, Shen Lin receives a call for an interview at a company she applied to and schedules it for tomorrow at 10 AM.Meanwhile, Xie Mei Lan secretly goes to the hospital for a check-up, where the doctor confirms she is six weeks pregnant and can register for prenatal vitamins and check-ups However, Xie Mei Lan shows no signs of happiness and seems deeply troubled
Oblivious to all this, Shen Lei goes about his day, buying groceries and even purchasing three potted succulents for only twenty yuan. Na Wei returns home from work, bringing gifts for both his daughter and son, along with a stock option contract. Shen Lin is thrilled to see the contract, practically dreaming of how it will boost their bank account.
After finally wrapping up a project, Li Xiao Yue's team is ready to leave, but their supervisor shows up with more work, clearly expecting them to stay late. The colleagues grumble about it, but the supervisor dismisses their complaints, trying to placate them with cold noodles for dinner. Li Xiao Yue remains silent but is visibly unhappy.
Unlike her colleagues who only complain, she confronts the supervisor with labor laws, challenging the legality of the overtime. The supervisor, feeling no remorse, threatens to fire her. Standing her ground, Li Xiao Yue quits on the spot. Noticing that Xie Mei Lan seems distracted, Shen Lei suggests she take a break from work, but she quickly changes the subject.
After receiving the stock option contract, Na Wei wants to buy a new car, but Shen Lin disagrees. She views cars as depreciating assets and believes their current car is still usable. Unable to convince his wife, Na Wei feels frustrated.
Na Juan picks up Li Xiao Yue and learns about her resignation, which makes her happy. They go out for hot pot, and Na Juan asks about Li Xiao Yue's future plans. Li Xiao Yue has no immediate plans and insists she wants to relax for a few days. Na Juan advises her to plan ahead, but one glance from Li Xiao Yue makes him back off.
Dressed up for her interview, Shen Lin is surprised to find that her interviewer is her former subordinate, Hailey, who is now a director at the company. Hailey quickly jumps into the details of the position, and when Shen Lin hears the salary is six thousand yuan and that Hailey would be her boss, she says she needs time to think.
Although Shen Lin is hesitant, Na Wei goes to check out a car on his own and ends up paying in full, driving it home. When Na Juan's boss insists he stay late, Na Juan cleverly hints that working overtime might cost him his girlfriend, prompting the boss to reluctantly let him leave on time.
Na Wei picks up his daughter from school, and her eyes light up when she sees the new car. Aware that Shen Lin might be upset, he first buys her a necklace and then teasingly takes her to see a surprise. Predictably, Shen Lin is angered when she sees the car.
Na Wei tries to calm her down, explaining his reasoning for buying the car was to impress her family back home, and eventually, Shen Lin comes to accept that he sold stocks to make the purchase. Shen Lei, working on an old book project, learns that he won't be getting any extra pay for the extra work, which instantly dampens his interest.
Na Juan wants Na Wei’s help in hiring Li Xiao Yue at his beauty company. Na Wei says he can't make that decision, but Na Juan tries both sweet and tough tactics. Eventually, Na Wei reluctantly agrees, mentioning that the starting salary would be ten thousand yuan before tax, with a reduced rate during the three-month probation period.
