Episode 25 recap: The New Mother is an Old Colleague
In Episode 25, there’s a meeting for postpartum caregivers. Shen Lin, one of the caregivers, feels anxious as she prepares to introduce herself alongside her peers. Looking at the employers in the audience, she feels like a commodity waiting to be picked. Her nerves increase as each caregiver meets with employers, and she worries that she won't be chosen, making her efforts seem pointless.
Finally, one employer asks for Shen Lin to come in, but the woman realizes Shen Lin is only forty years old. The husband even praises Shen Lin for looking younger than her age, leading the woman to decide to meet with another caregiver in her fifties instead. Shen Lin contemplates this and asks Manager Wu to use her original resume photo and to adjust her age to appear a bit older, hoping to gain the employers' trust.
Manager Wu reassures her that her outstanding skills are her greatest asset. If an employer dismisses her because of her age or appearance, then they aren't the right match for her. Meanwhile, Na Juan returns home from work to find Li Xiao Yue already asleep, but she has prepared cold medicine for him.
In another subplot, a social media influencer goes live from an old house in the mountains without Shen Lei's permission and invades his privacy by revealing personal details. Infuriated, Shen Lei discovers that Dong Zhiyong approved the influencer's visit and storms over to the village committee to demand they prevent any of his content from being shared.
Despite his anger, Dong Zhiyong later informs Shen Lei that the county has approved a project plan, and if Shen Lei doesn't cooperate, he won't be able to stay in the village. Shen Lei quickly consults with Lao Ke, who assures him that he hasn't received any notification from the committee and that Shen Lei can stay in the house as long as he wants. Shen Lei feels relieved after hearing this.
Meanwhile, an employer visits the training center looking for a caregiver. Manager Wu recommends Shen Lin, who rushes over. After reviewing Shen Lin's information and confirming there are no conflicts, the employer signs a contract on the spot and requests that Shen Lin start working the next day.
That evening, Shen Lin takes Na Wei to the supermarket, carefully instructing him on how to pay the property and gas bills. Back home, she prepares a nice meal and calmly informs her daughter that she will be going to work. Although her daughter is reluctant, she understands that Shen Lin needs to earn money and fights back her tears.
The next morning, Shen Lin takes a moment to look at her children before heading off to work. On a particular day at work, Na Juan suddenly finds the code on his computer blurry. He quickly drinks some water, but it doesn’t help. Frightened, he goes to the restroom to calm down but finds little relief.
At the employer's house, Shen Lin unexpectedly discovers that the new mother is her former colleague, Director Bai. Na Juan decides to go to the hospital for a check-up, where the doctor initially diagnoses his symptoms as stress-related, primarily due to overwhelming pressure and overexertion. The doctor prescribes medication and suggests he consider changing jobs to escape the high-pressure environment, as the condition could easily recur.
When the doctor mentions issuing a sick leave note, Na Juan is taken aback. The employer appreciates Shen Lin's abilities and finds her to be very professional at soothing the baby to sleep. Despite Shen Lin being a former colleague of the daughter-in-law, the employer decides to keep her on, and the new mother agrees to have Shen Lin stay as long as she can take care of her son.
