Episode 36 recap: Old Hu You Comes to Persuade Again
In episode 36, Lao Na is delivering food when he unexpectedly runs into an old friend, Lao Qian, in Yanjiao. Lao Qian has opened a beauty salon and is busy trying to make the business legitimate, even doing deliveries himself. After chatting for a bit, Lao Na gives Lao Qian a flyer to help promote his friend Shen Lin's snack shop before leaving.
That evening, when Lao Na returns home, he and Shen Lin review the day’s earnings, revealing that Lao Na only made five yuan. He feels a bit down about it, but Shen Lin is more optimistic, noting that some people even lose money on their first day of delivery.
The next day, Lao Na takes his mother to see his brother Na Juan's new home. Na Juan looks down on food delivery and ridesharing as options for middle-aged people, thinking they lack planning and are just following trends. When Lao Na asks for his thoughts on the matter, Na Juan shakes his head, admitting he hasn’t figured anything out yet. As they talk, the conversation shifts to Na Juan's ten-year plan, where he emphasizes the importance of having a life plan. Lao Na, tired of hearing the same advice, quickly suggests they check out some furniture.
The sofa was picked by Li Xiao Yue, and when Lao Na’s mother casually asks about Na Juan's relationship with Xiao Yue, Na Juan nonchalantly reveals they’ve broken up. After four years, their relationship ended suddenly, but he plans to spend a year going on blind dates to fill the void. Both Lao Na's mother and Na Wei feel uneasy, knowing that Na Juan is putting on a brave face.
After his family leaves, Na Juan deletes all the photos of Li Xiao Yue from his phone, overwhelmed with mixed emotions that bring him to tears. Meanwhile, Li Xiao Yue is busy with work; although she made it to the second round of interviews, the pressure of working overtime is starting to affect her.
Lao Na realizes that Na Juan and Xiao Yue’s breakup is final, and no amount of advice can fix it. His mother can only sigh, knowing that matters of the heart can’t be forced.
On another note, Na Wei crashes his bicycle while delivering a cake, ruining it and missing an order for Shen Lin's snacks. In a moment of desperation, Shen Lin borrows Lao Jin's electric bike to save the day, but he ends up falling as well. Fortunately, the snacks are fine, and the customer is understanding. However, Na Wei isn’t as lucky; the ruined cake leads to a demanding customer who insists on compensation. Thankfully, a friend steps in to help diffuse the situation.
At that moment, Na Wei receives a notification from the bank that he has unexpectedly gained 240,000 yuan. It turns out that Lao Gao's wife, Fan Wen, sold their house, paying off Lao Gao's debts and giving Na Wei an extra 10,000 yuan as a thank-you. This surprising good news brings Na Wei to tears, and the customer, seeing this, backs off from demanding compensation. Fan Wen also offers to introduce Na Wei to Lao Gao's clients, but he prefers to focus on running his small business in peace.
Meanwhile, Shen Lei expresses his desire to teach in rural areas. He shares some local specialties sent by Xiao Xue and speaks sincerely, which moves his parents. They ultimately support his decision, even though his father feels a sense of loss.
Xiao Yue visits Na Wei and Shen Lin, where Na Wei repays her the money he owes, plus interest. He tentatively asks if there’s any chance she and Na Juan might reconcile, but she firmly shakes her head. Despite their breakup, Xiao Yue promises to keep in touch.
On Na Juan's side, his blind date seems to be going well as they enjoy a lively conversation at a hotpot restaurant. Shen Lin, on the other hand, is planning to rent a storefront to expand his snack business and get on delivery platforms, but he knows he needs to plan carefully and not rush into it.
Just then, Wang Ruizhi calls Na Wei, informing him he has reopened his company in Beijing, secured an investment, and wants to invite Na Wei to join him in the venture. He even offers to take care of the 800,000 yuan debt. This sudden invitation leaves Na Wei deep in thought, but he knows that right now, his priority is to safeguard his small family and manage his business well.
