Episode 37 recap: Finally Reclaiming 800,000

In Episode 37, Shen Lin felt like her heart was racing like a rabbit after hearing Wang Ruizhi's words. She couldn't take her eyes off Na Wei, fearing he might be swayed by Wang's persuasive talk and get lost in some unrealistic entrepreneurial dream. That evening, Shen Lin could no longer hold back and asked Na Wei what he was really thinking.

Na Wei simply replied, "No idea," but deep down, he couldn't let go of the 800,000. He decided he needed to meet Wang Ruizhi the next day to see what was going on.

Before Shen Lei left the house, their mother stuffed him with bags of food, worried he might lack something while out. Their father handed Shen Lei half of the rent from their land, insisting he take it. Their mother urged him to accept it, knowing their father would get upset otherwise. This family was truly filled with love.

When Na Wei met Wang Ruizhi, he started spinning grand tales, painting an enticing picture. But Na Wei was no longer the naive young man he once was; he had weathered many storms and wasn't easily fooled anymore.

As soon as Wang Ruizhi mentioned the 800,000, Na Wei understood his intentions. Wang wanted to use that money as an investment in a new company, claiming he could pay it back double in the future. Na Wei was clear in his mind; he wanted real cash, not empty promises.

Seeing that tactic wasn't working, Wang resorted to emotional manipulation, reminiscing about how he had helped Na Wei make money in the past and that asking for the money now would hurt their relationship. Na Wei saw through it all; Wang Ruizhi was just a wealthy person trying to avoid repayment while dragging him down with him. Shen Lin found out about this and directly confronted Wang, calling him a fraud who wanted to use their past friendship as leverage.

Na Wei felt frustrated, but Shen Lin's words helped him regain clarity. He realized that if he could really get back that 800,000, they could live a stable life.

Shen Lin had already planned to open a small shop, insisting that money earned from their own hard work would be much more satisfying. Na Wei agreed and decided to steer clear of Wang Ruizhi's schemes.

Meanwhile, Li Xiaoyue found a job as a pastry chef, learning and working at the same time, and her life was going quite well.

Na Wei then received a call from Jiang Shan, who mentioned a distributor named Xu Yichao, who was collaborating with Wang Ruizhi and had the same name as the person who had wronged him. Na Wei felt a surge of anger and asked Jiang Shan to help find out when they had met. Without telling Shen Lin, he made up an excuse and left.

When Na Wei confronted Wang Ruizhi, he disrupted his plans. They engaged in a heated fight, and though both sides ended up with injuries, Na Wei successfully reclaimed the 800,000. He walked away triumphantly, wounds aside, feeling incredibly relieved. When Shen Lin saw him like that, she felt a deep sense of compassion and hugged him, crying.

With the 800,000, Shen Lin and Na Wei rented a storefront in Tongzhou to sell marinated goods, and their business began to thrive. Shen Lei was teaching in the mountains, discovering his life's purpose. Li Xiaoyue became a happy pastry chef, able to smile serenely when running into old acquaintances.

Their family was on the rise, eagerly awaiting July when their lease in Beijing would end, allowing them all to reunite. By then, they hoped to hire more help at the shop, giving them more time to spend with family and children.

Life, much like the song says, has its ups and downs. But as long as we don’t give up and keep moving forward, things are bound to get better.
