Episode 4 recap: The Boss's Unexpected Decision

After leaving Na Wei's house, Li Xiao Yue criticized Na Juan for her condescending attitude and tendency to play the teacher. Na Juan, in turn, suggested that Li Xiao Yue should consider switching jobs, as Wang Ruizhi's company might not survive. They debated this, with Na Juan accusing Li Xiao Yue of lacking a sense of urgency.

Li Xiao Yue didn't understand why people needed to have a sense of crisis, and their discussion ended on a sour note. Later, as Shen Lin reflected before bed, she realized Na Juan might be right; she worried that Qin Lingling could take out her frustrations on Na Wei. Although Na Wei insisted he had been dedicated to the company for years, he internally doubted his security and planned to express his loyalty to Qin Lingling.

The next day at work, Jiang Shan and Na Wei received calls inquiring whether Wang Ruizhi had become a monk. Employees were gossiping about their boss's supposed decision to enter a monastery, suggesting that it was Na Wei who had taken him there. Li Xiao Yue discreetly took screenshots of the WeChat discussions and sent them to Na Wei, who told her not to worry about it.

Shen Lin was also concerned about the situation at Na Wei's company, but he reassured her that everything was normal. As the end of the morning shift approached, Qin Lingling stormed into the office, followed closely by her brother. It was clear to everyone that Qin Lingling was in a furious mood. She barged into Wang Ruizhi's office and began smashing things.

Shen Lin texted again to check in, but Na Wei reported that nothing was wrong. During lunch, Jiang Shan suggested they talk to Qin Lingling, but Na Wei felt that approaching her in the current climate would be akin to suicide. Meanwhile, Lu introduced Xie Meilan to Zeng and Liu, and she shared her insights about the elderly care industry, which both executives seemed to appreciate.

Na Juan didn't have to work overtime, so she came to pick up Li Xiao Yue, but since Qin Lingling hadn't left yet, Na Wei couldn't let Li Xiao Yue go either and asked Na Juan to wait. Even as Qin Lingling and her brother were leaving, Na Wei pretended to be busy.

Once Li Xiao Yue finished her shift, Na Juan asked her about the company situation. At home, Shen Lei was cooking and messaged Xie Meilan to see if she was coming home for dinner. At that moment, Lu contacted Xie Meilan, claiming he wanted to introduce her to a vice president from an insurance company who could assist with her elderly care project. Without thinking, she asked for the address and replied that she wouldn't be going home.

When Xie Meilan arrived at the address Lu provided, she found no friend waiting for her; it was just Lu trying to use this as an excuse to take her out for dinner. Since borrowing 400,000 yuan from Lu due to her mother's illness, Xie Meilan had been deliberately keeping her distance from him. Lu then pulled out the IOU and tore it up, hoping Xie Meilan would feel more comfortable and treat him like a friend.

Later, when Na Wei got home, Shen Lin inquired about the company's situation and advised him to find a chance to clarify his loyalty to Qin Lingling. However, before he could speak up, Qin Lingling arrived at work the next day and called Wang Ruizhi's cousin, Liu Yan, into her office, firing her without any explanation.

Jiang Shan was frantic, worried that they might be next. Although Na Wei claimed Qin Lingling wouldn't go that far, he was soon notified that she wanted to see him, making his face pale for a moment. When he faced Qin Lingling, Na Wei began to express his feelings, only to discover that she wasn't there to fire him; she wanted to discuss some issues within the company.

Seeing the opportunity, Na Wei quickly changed the subject and answered Qin Lingling's questions. He relaxed, thinking he was safe from dismissal, unaware that he was now on someone's radar.
