Episode 5 recap: # Su Li Teaches Wang Gang How to Handle Mr. Wu
In episode 5, Zhang Shuheng is investigating the source of a leak and tracks down a phone, rushing over with Chen Yinyin, only to find that a beggar has picked it up. With this lead gone, Zhang Shuheng has to return empty-handed. When he tells Su Li about it, Su Li reassures him that they will find a solution. Zhang Shuheng tries to get close to Su Li, but she finds an excuse to avoid him.
Chen Yinyin calls Zhang Shuheng, but he doesn’t answer, which makes her very angry. The next day, Zhang Shuheng receives a photo from Chen Yinyin showing her injuries. He rushes to see her, only to discover that she’s fine. Chen Yinyin explains that her injuries were a way to get his attention since he wouldn’t pick up her calls.
Chen Yinyin insists that Zhang Shuheng stay and have breakfast with her, but he refuses, prompting her to spill the food in frustration. Meanwhile, Su Li and Wang Gang are shopping for jewelry, and Su Li buys Wang Gang a necklace. Wang Gang feels it’s too extravagant and insists he can’t accept it, but Su Li argues that he deserves it for his help.
Wang Gang mentions he needs to meet Mr. Wu to sign a contract and expresses his anxiety. Su Li teaches him a technique to appear more assertive. When Wang Gang meets Mr. Wu, he argues that contracts should reflect the true intentions of both parties, and if Mr. Wu disagrees, he could take legal action and expose Mr. Wu’s infidelity.
Mr. Wu reluctantly agrees to sign the contract. Afterward, Wang Gang is thrilled and shares the news with Su Li. At the film release event, Chen Yinyin tries to greet the director, but he ignores her. When Su Li and Zhang Shuheng arrive, the director greets them warmly, making Chen Yinyin feel jealous.
Later, Chen Yinyin returns home and vomits, but then has a realization that makes her happy. Su Li visits Wang Gang at his home, where they share a meal. Wang Gang discusses his diminishing communication with his husband, noting that he only learned about an upcoming company celebration from friends. He speculates that his husband might find him too ordinary to take out in public.
Su Li asks for the time and location of the event, saying she’ll accompany Wang Gang to confront the situation. Meanwhile, Chen Yinyin goes to Zhang Shuheng's house, deliberately getting close to him. Zhang Shuheng urges her to leave, saying Su Li is about to return. Chen Yinyin is unwilling to go, and just then, Su Li opens the door.
