Episode 12 recap: # Golden Emerald Lounge

In this episode, Liu Jin Cui is connected to Ah Ming's family. She secures an order from Lai Pei but can't handle it alone, so she reaches out to Cai Shu and Ah Ming for a compromise, asking Ah Ming to give up the territory south of Highway 4. Initially reluctant, Ah Ming eventually agrees after Cai Shu persuades him to let Shen Xing negotiate on his behalf.

Cai Shu instructs a subordinate to give Shen Xing a gun for protection. Upon arriving in Daqulin, Shen Xing first visits the hospital to check on Xi Tuang and then lends the gun to Lan Bo for some target practice. Later that evening, Shen Xing heads to Liu Jin Cui's Golden Emerald Lounge, where she challenges him to a game of pool.

Shen Xing is skilled at pool but can't match Liu Jin Cui’s prowess and loses three rounds. He prepares to pull out the promised $1,500, but Liu Jin Cui shows little interest in the money. Instead, she asks why Ming Ge isn't present. Shen Xing explains that Ming Ge has injured his leg and can't come.

Upon learning that Shen Xing has brought a signed contract from Ming Ge, Liu Jin Cui's demeanor shifts, and she promptly signs the contract. After wrapping up the business, Shen Xing returns to Daban, having only delivered a message. However, he realizes Liu Jin Cui is a formidable character.

Dan Tuo informs him that Liu Jin Cui has a reputation in Daqulin for being ruthless and ungrateful. Ming Ge thinks having a middleman like Liu Jin Cui is beneficial, so Cai Shu plans for Shen Xing to continue following up. Shen Xing is hesitant until Dan Tuo mentions that there’s money in it for him. Cai Shu trusts Shen Xing's intelligence, which he finds flattering.

Tragically, Xi Tuang succumbs to his injuries in the hospital. Lan Bo, overwhelmed with rage, attempts to confront Mao Pan for revenge, but Shen Xing intervenes, resulting in Lan Bo biting Shen Xing's arm. Zhou Bin restrains Lan Bo, causing him to lose consciousness. Liu Jin Cui then contacts Shen Xing, asking him to come to the Golden Emerald Lounge at 5 PM.

Shen Xing received the check, and Liu Jin Cui, noticing his handsome appearance, attempted to make advances towards him. Shen Xing repeatedly refused her, but just then, Mao Pan had Zhi Zhi Min locked up, so Liu Jin Cui had to go deal with that situation. Shen Xing followed her and soon realized it was Mao Pan, quickly calling Zhou Bin for help and heading over to assist Liu Jin Cui.

Shen Xing drank a bottle of white liquor on Liu Jin Cui's behalf, and with Zhou Bin's persistent calls to Mao Pan, he was temporarily left alone. Liu Jin Cui then took Shen Xing to the restroom to induce vomiting, making for a rather messy situation. When Mao Pan returned to Xianglong International, he discovered he had been tricked and sent people back to the Golden Emerald Lounge to settle the score with Shen Xing.

Coincidentally, Lan Bo, having learned that Mao Pan was at the lounge, barged in with a gun, intent on killing him. With Mao Pan distracted, he couldn’t focus on Shen Xing anymore. Hearing the gunshots, Shen Xing and Liu Jin Cui emerged to see the fleeing Lan Bo and immediately understood the situation.

Shen Xing chased after him, while Liu Jin Cui blended into the crowd and saw Mao Pan, shot and bleeding, struggling to call for help. Liu Jin Cui ordered her people to drag Mao Pan into a private room but didn’t rush to call an ambulance; like Lan Bo, she wanted nothing more than for Mao Pan to die.

Shen Xing drove to rescue Lan Bo, but he was recognized as one of Cai Shu's men. Quick on the draw, Lan Bo shot the man to eliminate him as a witness. Shen Xing then learned that Lan Bo hadn’t returned to Maniu Town and that it was Zhou Bin who informed him about Mao Pan being at the Golden Emerald Lounge.

This led Shen Xing to realize that Zhou Bin was using Lan Bo to kill Mao Pan. Ultimately, Mao Pan succumbed to his injuries. Zhou Bin lied to the police, refusing to name Lan Bo. Liu Jin Cui told Shen Xing that no one would investigate the matter thoroughly; too many people wanted Mao Pan dead.

The final straw is often not the last blade of grass; bad people must eventually face their fate; it’s just a matter of time. Mao Pan was the perfect example of this.
