Episode 14 recap: Letting the Doves Fly
In Episode 14, Shen Xing talked to Cai Shu about the aggressive collection tactics of Xia Wenjing. However, Cai Shu advised Shen Xing not to get involved to avoid giving Xia Wenjing an excuse to withhold rent. Cai Shu also inquired about the recent happenings at Shiji Dfang, and Shen Xing shared the details honestly.
Meanwhile, Jason Li, a big shot from Lai Pei, arrived and directly entered the Shiji Hotel, purchasing shares from several of the shareholders. Shen Xing intended to talk to Guo Li Min but discovered he wasn’t at work. He ran into Wang An Quan, who mentioned that since their last dinner, he hadn’t seen Guo Li Min. Wang An Quan added that Guo Li Min seemed off that day, suggesting he might need time to adjust. Shen Xing thought it would be good to find a chance to help Guo Li Min relax.
Later, with Shen Xing’s support, Guo Li Min was promoted to team leader, and he was overjoyed. To celebrate, Shen Xing took him to sing at the Jincui Karaoke Hall in Daqulin. However, that night, Shen Xing and Liu Jin Cui ended up crossing inappropriate boundaries. A waitress, A Zhu, noticed something was off and hurriedly left, visibly shaken. When Guo Li Min came looking for Shen Xing, he stumbled upon the scene, filled with surprise and confusion, before quietly walking away.
The next morning, Shen Xing woke up to find both Liu Jin Cui and Guo Li Min gone. He learned from Xiao Min that the room they used the previous night had been comped, and Liu Jin Cui had returned to Lai Pei. Xiao Min hesitated to explain A Zhu's situation, only mentioning she hadn't spent any money that night.
After Jason Li took over Shiji Hotel, Lei Ming became the head of security. Guo Li Min faced trouble from a demanding customer, and Lei Ming resorted to violence against him. Guo Li Min felt frustrated but helpless. Jason Li offered Yan Bai Mei a tempting deal: if he relinquished three D halls, he could continue as the nominal owner of Dfang and still earn a commission.
Yan Bai Mei betrayed Cai Shu, resulting in the immediate closure of Cai Shu's two halls under the pretext of expired fire extinguishers. Shen Xing sensed something was off and confronted Yan Bai Mei. Although Yan Bai Mei spoke convincingly, Shen Xing felt he was hiding something from Cai Shu.
Worried about Guo Li Min, Shen Xing wanted to help, but it seemed Guo Li Min had given up. Shen Xing confronted Lei Ming, threatening him not to harm Guo Li Min again. He and Dan Tuo called Cai Shu to explain the situation, but Cai Shu, deep in meditation, said they would wait until his return to decide on a course of action.
Liu Jin Cui returned to Lai Pei, and when Shen Xing gathered the courage to confess his feelings, he was met with a cold response. It turned out a girl from the karaoke hall had a troubled marriage and returned with a child, creating a mess Liu Jin Cui was busy trying to resolve. She also forbade Guo Li Min from coming to the karaoke hall, berating him for being foolish.
Shen Xing didn’t understand what "letting the doves fly" meant, so he asked Zhou Bin, who explained it was a scam involving fake marriages. A fire broke out at Baisheng Entertainment in Daqulin, caused by Luan Basong. To save himself, Zhou Bin even gave up the Ai Suo passage he had worked hard to obtain. Cai Shu called Shen Xing, urging him to withdraw from Shiji Dfang and see if he could negotiate with Yan Bai Mei to recover some investment.
At that moment, Shen Xing realized the extent of Luan Basong's influence. Guo Li Min got into more trouble, being bullied by a customer and getting injured, while Lei Ming watched with amusement. Wang An Quan quickly notified Shen Xing, who rushed to the scene, shocked by what he found.
