Episode 17 recap: # Right and Wrong
In Episode 17, Guo Li Min makes an irreparable mistake, ending a life in the cold water prison with his own hands. His hands are stained with blood that can never be washed away, trapping him in an inescapable predicament. Once, the mantra "work hard and you'll get rich" led Guo Li Min astray; he used this phrase to deceive a trusting partner, who was crucial to his success.
Shen Xing, a person filled with justice and compassion, tries to awaken Guo Li Min's conscience by revealing his own scars. He remembers every time he helped Guo Li Min, but Guo Li Min misinterprets this as Shen Xing flaunting his superiority. In a fit of rage, Guo Li Min pushes Shen Xing into the dangerous water and even attacks him with a sharp fork, leaving Shen Xing shocked and heartbroken.
Fortunately, the police arrive in time to prevent the tragedy from escalating further. Guo Li Min is subdued, his roars and screams leaving Shen Xing feeling unprecedentedly alienated and afraid. With the collapse of the coercive scheme, Shen Xing and other victims, like Xiao Tian, finally regain their freedom. Shen Xing feels conflicted about Guo Li Min's arrest, and the police's misunderstandings add to his helplessness as he is sent to a detention center.
There, Shen Xing meets Jue Xin Tun, and after some explanation, he reluctantly accepts the harsh reality. Xiao Tian's rescue fills her family with gratitude, and she openly praises Shen Xing as a good person, which offers him a moment of warmth. However, Shen Xing remains anxious, worried that the photos revealing the darkness might be leaked. Xiao Tian's reassurance brings him slight comfort, but he quickly falls back into deep contemplation.
Shen Xing begins to doubt the truth behind the police report and initially suspects Wang An Quan. However, after inquiring, he learns that Wang An Quan is also a victim and couldn't possibly have done such a thing. As investigations into Lan Qin D Fang and Century D Field unfold, the situation becomes increasingly complex. Shen Xing realizes that his actions could trigger a series of chain reactions, but he understands that it is all for justice and redemption.
Amidst his confusion, an assassination attempt on Cai Shu quietly unfolds. However, Cai Shu is well-prepared and successfully diffuses the crisis. Shen Xing's time in the detention center is anything but peaceful, and Liu Jin Cui's plight deepens his understanding of the darkness surrounding him. Faced with Liu Jin Cui's injuries and the death of an innocent bride, Shen Xing's anger and sorrow peak. He strives to seek truth and justice, yet reality continually leaves him feeling powerless.
One night, a fire suddenly breaks out in Cai Shu's temple, raging fiercely. In the chaos, Shen Xing fights to save others. Although the fire is eventually brought under control, the experience leaves a profound mark on his soul. He begins to reflect on his actions and choices, realizing that in this battle against darkness, everyone is struggling to find a way out.
