Episode 7 recap: # Slaughter

In Episode 7, Shen Xing and Dan Tuo, hiding behind a car, are overheard whispering. Shen Xing cleverly claims he can drive construction vehicles and proceeds to fix one in front of their adversaries. They then ask if he can repair cold chain trucks. Although he can't, Dan Tuo decides to leave Shen Xing there alone to gather more clues.

Dan Tuo reports back to Cai Shu, who analyzes that the reason Tisa is so bold in concealing his involvement from Ai Suo is worth investigating, considering Ai Suo is not easily fooled. Shen Xing dreams of a vast expanse separating him from his uncle, leaving them unable to reach each other.

Tisa visits a temple weekly, and Cai Shu and Dan Tuo approach him directly. Tisa insists he can handle the cold chain issues without collaborating with Cai Shu. Cai Shu points out that as Ai Suo increases the number of live cattle, Tisa is struggling to manage it all. Nevertheless, Tisa still refuses to cooperate.

Cai Shu tells Dan Tuo that a clam that won’t open often hides a large pearl. Shen Xing observes that the monks have not taken Tisa’s offerings, which puzzles him. He sneaks into the manager's office but is almost caught by the drunken manager. Just in time, Dan Tuo knocks out the manager, and together they take several contracts from the office—documents signed between Tisa and various upstream and downstream partners.

Dan Tuo thinks the contracts are worthless, but Shen Xing notices some recurring numbers that seem unusual. Upon closer inspection, they discover these are all penalties for breach of contract. Tisa has not completed agreements with these partners, resulting in multiple breaches.

Shen Xing and Dan Tuo track down one of Tisa’s partners, Liang Xiaohua, who is also Chinese. From him, they learn that Tisa has suspended pig slaughtering but plans to resume business with partners once a new slaughterhouse is built in three months. Following this lead could alert Tisa, but Shen Xing can seek help from Jue Xin Tun.

Jue Xin Tun is somewhat surprised to learn that Shen Xing's boss is Cai Shu. Although the situation is challenging, Jue Xin Tun is willing to find a way to help Shen Xing.

Later, Jue Xin Tun discovers that the land for Tisa's new factory belongs to Chanlin. Even if a slaughterhouse is built, the land rights should still belong to Chanlin. Wukama Ha is the chief elder of Chanlin and has no reason to allow this. The only connection points to Qiapo. The business in Niu Town collaborates with Daban, but Qiapo gains nothing from it. There must be some collusion of interests behind this, and the deal is definitely being made without Ai Suo’s knowledge.

Ai Suo is a wolf that cannot be tamed; he could easily devour those who feed him. Therefore, he won’t let Qiapo manipulate him. The next day, Cai Shu goes to the Kang River to release fish with Ai Suo. Worried that Cai Shu might say something to Ai Suo, Qiapo follows along. Cai Shu has no qualms about Qiapo being present; he openly exposes the fact that Tisa lacks cold chain facilities and mentions that Qiapo provided Tisa with land for the new factory.

Although Ai Suo is angry, he still refuses to collaborate with Cai Shu. After the business deal falls through, their vehicle breaks down on the way back, forcing Cai Shu to walk home in the rain. Shen Xing is extremely frustrated but inadvertently learns from Jue Xin Tun that Tisa's son, Arden, was caught street racing in the city and killed a monk. He has now been imprisoned, and Tisa is desperately trying to find a way to get him out.

Shen Xing shares this information with Cai Shu and Dan Tuo. Through Jue Xin Tun, they learn that Arden's sentencing has been postponed until next Monday, and this time it won’t change. However, they plan to find someone similar to Arden to take his place. On the day Arden is secretly released, he gets into a car heading for the city. Unable to shake off memories of the accident, he turns pale with fear. Dan Tuo joins him in the car and instructs Arden to call Tisa.
