Episode 13 recap: Han Zi Qing Accidentally Injures Jun Bei Yue
In Episode 13, Hong Yi and Shi Liang see Han Zi Qing’s distressed expression and immediately realize she’s had another argument with the Fourth Prince. This pair of adversaries seems to clash every few days, which worries Shi Liang. Despite Hong Yi's repeated attempts to comfort Han Zi Qing, she brushes them off. Meanwhile, Jun Bei Yue is feeling heavy-hearted, drowning his sorrows alone with alcohol.
Observing silently nearby, the Second Prince is acutely aware of the situation. As night falls, Jun Bei Yue becomes completely intoxicated and goes to bed early. Xin Er, also drunk, disregards her guards' warnings and barges into Jun Bei Yue's chamber. At that moment, Han Zi Qing, encouraged by Hong Yi, decides to check on the drunken prince.
To her surprise, she walks in to find Jun Bei Yue lying next to Xin Er, creating an incredibly awkward situation. When Xin Er wakes up and innocently calls out to Jun Bei Yue, he is taken aback, not expecting her to be there. However, recalling the scene of Han Zi Qing playing the guqin with Li Ge, he feels a surge of anger and pretends to be concerned for Xin Er.
Xin Er, sensing the tension, pours tea and is soon sent away. Han Zi Qing stands frozen, explaining that Hong Yi suggested she come, but now that she sees the situation, she decides to leave. Hong Yi is puzzled, wondering why the princess left so quickly, especially since Xin Er had just exited; something must be amiss!
Without further explanation, Han Zi Qing heads back to her tent to pack her things and drags Shi Liang along. Hong Yi tries to stop them but is blocked by the Second Prince. She is left guarding the camp while the Second Prince quietly contacts the officials for help. It isn’t until the next day that Hong Yi informs Jun Bei Yue about Han Zi Qing's departure. Still sulking, he doesn’t seek her out but quickly regrets it.
As he prepares to leave, Shi Liang returns alone, saying Han Zi Qing has been captured by the officials! The Second Prince has also disappeared, clearly involved in this scheme.
Without hesitation, Jun Bei Yue sets off alone to rescue Han Zi Qing. At that moment, she stands alone in court, as the case against Young Master Chen is reopened, suspecting that the black-clad individuals have been bribed, putting the Han family under suspicion again. Han Xi Er appears, feigning innocence and bringing witnesses to claim that someone else was in Han Zi Qing’s room that night. Han Zi Qing realizes that regardless of whether she identifies Jun Bei Chen, it won’t bode well for Jun Bei Yue. The Second Prince believes Han Zi Qing will point fingers at him, hoping to make Jun Bei Yue a laughingstock.
However, Han Zi Qing surprises everyone by claiming responsibility. Just then, a black-clad figure wearing a white mask reappears, accompanied by the beautiful shopkeeper as a witness. The masked figure reveals that Han Xi Er ordered him to harm Han Zi Qing and admits to mistakenly injuring Young Master Chen. Furious, Han Zi Qing lunges at the masked figure with a knife.
Caught off guard, the figure falls, and his mask slips off, revealing Jun Bei Yue’s face! Han Zi Qing is stunned, filled with regret. Jun Bei Yue tells her that this is his debt to her and asks her to promise two things: to take care of herself and the Tian Que. Han Zi Qing then covers for Jun Bei Yue as he is taken away by Lao Gu, demanding to know how the king will rule on this case.
Satisfied with the answer, she uses her scorpion ring to summon the Fourth Prince's men to guard the city and rushes to Jun Bei Yue’s side. Both Ying Zi and Lao Gu are furious, feeling that Jun Bei Yue has always protected Han Zi Qing, yet now finds himself in such a predicament.
Overwhelmed by the truth, Han Zi Qing breaks down in tears.
