Episode 34 recap: Bai Li Wei Sheng Meets His Mother
In Episode 34, the leader of the Dream Clan has been troubled by a question: when Bei Yue went to save Han Zi Qing, did Bai Li Wei Sheng try to stop him? After some thought, Bei Yue informs the leader that Bai Li Wei Sheng actually did not intervene. Everyone speculates that Bai Li Wei Sheng must have felt quite conflicted about it.
On Han Zi Qing's side, she clearly remembers that at that time, Yin Jiao was instigating things, trying to provoke Bai Li Wei Sheng into taking action against her. However, Bai Li Wei Sheng stood his ground and didn't attack. Now, it's well-known that Bai Li Wei Sheng is actually the Golden Merman, a fact that is now undeniable.
The leader reveals a major secret: the Abyss of Myriad Seas is actually the former site of the Golden Merman Palace, which was sealed by the Dream Clan using a barrier that relies on the Golden Merman's power. Since Bai Li Wei Sheng just arrived at the Abyss, the leader concludes that there must still be a Golden Merman hidden inside.
Upon hearing this, Han Zi Qing starts contemplating a return to the Abyss of Myriad Seas. Bei Yue is initially worried about her injuries, but Zi Qing insists on going, and Bei Yue eventually agrees, bringing the leader along. As for Xiao Sheng, her injuries haven't fully healed, so she has to stay home, but she genuinely hopes that her senior brother and Bei Yue can resolve their misunderstandings soon.
The three of them venture back into the Abyss of Myriad Seas. As soon as they reach the entrance, the leader notices that the area is filled with barriers. To their surprise, they also find someone trapped inside! Without hesitation, the leader rescues the person, who turns out to be the Golden Merman's wife.
The Golden Merman's wife is frantic, rushing inside to find Bai Li Wei Sheng. At that moment, Bai Li Wei Sheng is drowning his sorrows alone, and he can hardly believe his eyes when he sees her. Fortunately, with the leader’s testimony, the Golden Merman's wife recounts the events of the past, revealing that this whole situation was orchestrated by Yin Jiao.
Years ago, the Golden Merman and his wife attended a banquet in Nan Zhao, where Yin Jiao disrupted their gathering by exposing the secret of the human puppets. When the puppets were unleashed, the chaos that ensued was catastrophic, resulting in heavy losses for the Golden Merman clan. In pursuit of power, Yin Jiao allied with the King of Nan Zhao and even hunted down the Golden Merman's wife, who was pregnant at the time. On her journey, she gave birth to Bai Li Wei Sheng before being captured and imprisoned.
After the truth was revealed, the Golden Merman's wife apologized to Han Zi Qing on behalf of her son. Han Zi Qing was quite magnanimous, saying that she and Bai Li Wei Sheng often bicker, so it wasn't a big deal. With the misunderstanding cleared up, the atmosphere became much lighter, and Bai Li Wei Sheng played a tune that Han Zi Qing immediately recognized as "Li Shang."
The Golden Merman's wife then revealed a totem she had found by chance, but no one could make sense of its meaning. Later, she returned to Liuxian Island with everyone. Upon arriving, Bai Li Wei Sheng went to see Xiao Sheng, only to be startled and run away when he saw her in women's clothing.
The Golden Merman's wife and Xiao Sheng got along well; she had even witnessed Xiao Sheng's bravery in protecting Han Zi Qing. The leader of the Dream Clan decided to confine Madam Wan to prevent her from causing more trouble. Jun Bei Yue felt a mix of emotions about this. Meanwhile, Shi Liang was causing a scene, insisting on committing suicide. Jun Bei Yue wasn't swayed by her antics and ordered her execution.
Han Zi Qing couldn't stand by and insisted on personally escorting her. Gu Xi advised Han Zi Qing to plead for Shi Liang’s life, but with Shi Liang's stubbornness, Han Zi Qing felt helpless and had to let Gu Xi handle it. However, Gu Xi tied her up in a way that would keep her alive and tossed her into the water, asking if she was sure Shi Liang would be able to get out. Gu Xi responded that it should be fine.
The leader of the Dream Clan took Madam Wan away, and Jun Bei Yue bid her farewell, but she didn’t even spare him a glance. Xiao Sheng enjoyed her time with the Golden Merman's wife, though Bai Li Wei Sheng still felt uneasy about Xiao Sheng wearing women's clothes.
As for the totem, they finally found a clue: it pointed to the Jade Water and Qiong Jiang Heavenly Pool! With this new lead, everyone prepared to set off on another adventure.
