Episode 33 recap: Zhang Ze Zhong Seeks His Wife Su Ma Li
In episode 33, Zhang You Ting shares with Du Li that her studies abroad are going well. Du Li praises her, calling her the best. However, Zhang You Ting quickly clarifies that while she might not stand out in China, she has to give her all abroad to prove that Chinese people, especially those from Beijing, should not be underestimated.
Du Li admires Zhang You Ting's confidence, and Zhang You Ting jokes that she's always been like this; she just doesn’t want to cause trouble for her brother, Zhang Ze Zhong. Du Li envies Zhang You Ting’s freedom to pursue what she loves, to which Zhang You Ting replies that Du Li is also chasing her passions. Du Li sighs, realizing that interests and careers often don’t align, and she would be satisfied just singing.
Standing by Shichahai, Zhang You Ting boldly declares her love for Du Li, and they embrace tightly, overflowing with sweetness.
Meanwhile, Du Man Tang looks around at the clutter of old items and hesitantly asks Pierre if they’ve collected too much. Pierre jokes that he even removed two tables for these treasures. He emphasizes that spending money isn’t just to create a storage space for Du Man Tang, who scratches her head, deciding to think of another way to arrange the items.
At the same time, Zhang Ze Zhong and Amanda happily go to the civil affairs bureau to register their marriage, only to be told that Zhang Ze Zhong is still married, and they cannot register. Amanda storms out and runs into Du Man Tang, who innocently offers her congratulations, only to receive a slap from Amanda. After understanding the situation, Du Man Tang expresses her frustration at Zhang Ze Zhong’s forgetfulness and reminds him to resolve his divorce. Zhang Ze Zhong suddenly remembers he seems to have signed a divorce agreement with Su Ma Li but never received the divorce certificate.
Du Man Tang, anxious, starts pacing, but Zhang Ze Zhong remains calm, suggesting that he should just find Su Ma Li and finalize the divorce.
Zhang Ze Zhong tries to reach Su Ma Li using an old phone but can’t get through. He then reports her missing to the police, who are puzzled by his claim. However, Zhang Ze Zhong has a plan—he wants to use Du Man Tang's social media influence to locate Su Ma Li so he can complete the divorce and marry Amanda.
He also mentions Zhang You Ting’s upcoming marriage and proposes inviting her mother, to which Du Man Tang agrees to help find her.
While walking, Du Li and Zhang You Ting encounter Mr. Jiang, who is frustrated with a network issue at his guesthouse. Du Li suggests he use the Wi-Fi at Du Man Tang's café. Mr. Jiang hesitates but ultimately accepts the advice. At the café, Mr. Jiang suggests that they standardize the coffee flavor to attract customers, but Du Man Tang and Pierre disagree. They believe each cup should have its unique flavor, just as life should be diverse and surprising.
Du Man Tang encourages Mr. Jiang, reminding him that while he faces difficulties now, the future will bring new experiences and feelings.
Zhang Ze Zhong is jolted awake by the news of Zhang You Ting resigning, only to receive a call from an unfamiliar woman saying she’s there to pick him up. When a Japanese-speaking woman appears before him, he is momentarily stunned until Su Ma Li reminds him, prompting him to recognize her. Meanwhile, Du Man Tang and Wang Xiao Qing run into each other while grocery shopping, enjoying a warm moment in their ordinary lives.
