Episode 1 recap: Unraveling Mysteries at the Zhang Family Mansion

In Episode 1, nestled at the foot of Wushan Mountain, there's an unassuming little antique shop. Though far from the hustle and bustle of the city, it holds decades of history. Inside, shelves overflow with various old items: porcelain gleams softly, statues of all shapes and sizes dazzle the eye, each piece tells a story passed down through generations. The most enigmatic of all is a diary filled with secrets of the antiques.

Every word in this diary reveals the hidden tales behind each antique, filled with hardships and strange mysteries that leave readers in awe.

In the shop, there are three close friends: the owner, Wu Xie, and his two buddies, Wang Pang Zi and Zhang Qi Ling. Their friendship runs deep. However, when Zhang Qi Ling suddenly vanished after visiting the Zhang family mansion, Wu Xie and Wang Pang Zi became anxious and decided to investigate.

The Zhang family mansion was once home to a prestigious lineage but had fallen into decline. This was their first time exploring such a mysterious place. They quietly snuck in through a hidden entrance, only to find the interior covered in ashes, with a few fresh footprints breaking the eerie silence. Light streamed in through narrow gaps in the walls, casting an ominous glow on the scattered antiques.

Just a few steps inside, they encountered a bizarre creature known as a Mizhazhi—an eerie, faceless monster on two legs. Fortunately, the duo quickly subdued it. After the creature fell, it dissolved into a foul-smelling green sludge.

With rescue as their priority, they pressed on. Wang Pang Zi activated a flare, illuminating the mansion's grandeur. Despite the dust, the valuable porcelain shone brightly, and the intricately carved eaves would fetch a high price if sold outside. Luckily, Wu Xie and Wang Pang Zi managed to extinguish a fire that almost destroyed it all.

Continuing deeper into the mansion, they stumbled upon a pile of mummified bodies, dressed like Zhang Qi Ling’s subordinates. This sight filled Wu Xie with dread for his friend’s safety. After a thorough search, they finally found Zhang Qi Ling, bloodied and weak but alive. He had discovered a hallucinogenic gas in the mansion and had to draw some of his own blood to delay the poisoning.

Once Zhang Qi Ling regained consciousness, he shared his plan with Wu Xie. He had a challenging mission to complete and needed to recover lost memories. He made a ten-year promise to Wu Xie, vowing to shoulder this responsibility while seeking his own identity. Wu Xie felt a mix of emotions; this was a burden he should bear, yet Zhang Qi Ling had unhesitatingly taken it upon himself.
