Episode 14 recap: Wuxie Tries to Find the Key
In Episode 14, Wuxie and the Fatty sneak up to the mysterious residence of the Night King, their hearts racing with excitement like they were holding a small rabbit. Yet, tension hangs in the air—after all, the Night King is not known for being friendly. They stand at the palace's entrance, just a step away from finding the mechanism to unlock the door. Like detectives, they widen their eyes and carefully scrutinize every corner of the palace for clues.
However, the palace is like a labyrinth, leaving them dizzy and disoriented. Fortunately, the Fatty's regular exercise pays off; otherwise, after a day of hiking, he would have collapsed. They crawl along the wall like geckos, inching forward, hoping to find a mechanism. But in a moment of clumsiness, the Fatty gets pinned under a cover, unable to move and sweating with anxiety.
Wuxie, on the other hand, manages to find something that seems like a mechanism, but it feels slippery like an eel—no matter how he presses it, there's no response. The Fatty, determined, grits his teeth and pushes against the cover to buy Wuxie some time. Just then, Zhang Jiuri appears out of nowhere and immediately opens fire.
Reacting quickly, the Fatty gets shot in the arm but avoids a fatal hit. Seeing this, Zhang Haike leaps into action, engaging in a fierce struggle with Zhang Jiuri, clearly old rivals. Despite the pain, the Fatty grits his teeth and holds on. Wuxie, seeing the chaos, decides to take matters into his own hands and removes his gloves to feel for the mechanism.
To his surprise, he finds the right spot, and with a creak, the door swings open. They quickly slip inside. But Zhang Jiuri isn’t done yet; he sets up explosives outside, hoping to eliminate them once and for all. However, the explosives fail to detonate and instead backfire, as a snake bites him—truly poetic justice. Zhang Haike seizes the opportunity to tend to the Fatty's wound, and only then does the Fatty realize how badly he's hurt, seeing blood all over his arm.
But when he notices Wuxie is also injured, he forgets his own pain and rushes to help Wuxie. After resting for a while, the Fatty and Wuxie discover a large, ominous cocoon hanging in the palace, resembling a giant silkworm cocoon. Wuxie suddenly remembers that the key must be inside. The Fatty, feeling both anxious and excited, asks everyone if they’re ready.
Despite their uncertainty, they can't back down now. Gritting their teeth, they use a dagger to slice open the cocoon. As soon as they do, a cloud of green toxic gas and dust billows out, causing them to cough. But what shocks them even more is the sight of countless keys hanging inside, resembling candied hawthorns, with no discernible order.
Cold sweat breaks out on the Fatty and Zhang Haike’s brows—how will they find the right key among so many? Fortunately, Wuxie's sharp eyes notice that the arrangement of the keys resembles a mountain range. He recalls a map that Wang Jinyuan had given him, depicting that same range. Quickly, he pulls out the map and studies it against the keys, finally identifying the crucial key.
Without hesitation, the Fatty becomes a human ladder, allowing Wuxie to reach for the key. Just as Wuxie grasps it, the ground begins to shake violently, and a thick smoke erupts. In a moment of distraction, Wuxie falls into a pit, plunging them into a perilous situation!
