Episode 22 recap: Wuxie’s Search for Yinshi Luo Under Attack

In Episode 22, Wuxie successfully rescues Zhang Hai Xing and Zhang Hai Ke, but both are still shaken after regaining consciousness. Wuxie explains that they discovered a hexagonal bell beneath the glacier, and the hallucinations they experienced were likely caused by the bell's powder spreading through a crack. After some thought, Zhang Hai Xing concludes that this powder is special, made by the Zhang family to protect the people of Yinshi Luo, revealing the deep connection between the Zhang family and Yinshi Luo.

The trio arrives near Yinshi Luo, only to find the area in ruins and eerily silent, with several corpses of Denashi people scattered among the debris. Wuxie searches the clothing of the bodies and finds a diary detailing the unfortunate fate of a Denashi expedition team from a year ago. They had encountered a bizarre sphere that could consume life in an instant, leading to the demise of the entire team. The diary notes that gazing at the sphere seemed to be safe, but a mere blink could result in death, a mystery that leaves them puzzled. Zhang Hai Ke believes the account, as photographic evidence from the Denashi confirms the existence of this terrifying entity.

To reduce risk, Wuxie decides to split up with Fatty, maintaining communication by staying close yet flexible. Along the way, Wuxie discovers flags that match the descriptions from the scroll, some buried deep in the snow. As night falls, the Denashi begin to set up camp, while Zhang Hai Ke attempts to signal using a mirror to reflect sunlight, but for unknown reasons, he fails multiple times. Fatty senses something is wrong, and Zhang Hai Ke quietly warns him not to blink. Just as he finishes speaking, a spherical tumor suddenly appears before them, exactly as they had heard in previous accounts.

Fatty remembers the key to dealing with the sphere: he must not close his eyes. He stares wide-eyed as the sphere expands, its tentacles opening and closing like a strange flower. Meanwhile, Wuxie's detector goes off, signaling the approach of the Night King. The soldiers panic, fleeing in all directions, but they cannot escape their grim fate of being devoured.
