Episode 25 recap: Night King

In episode 25, Wu Xie and Fatty are initially focused on dealing with the Night King, but now they have to contend with Zhang Hai Xing as well. Zhang Hai Xing is incredibly skilled, and together, Wu Xie and Fatty are no match for her. Fortunately, they have always worked well together, and while Zhang Hai Xing is distracted, Fatty manages to knock her out.

Taking advantage of Zhang Hai Xing's unconsciousness, Wu Xie quickly shares the details of their previous conversation with Fatty. They analyze that Zhang Hai Ke and Zhang Hai Xing must have betrayed the Zhang family for a reason; it seems like a carefully orchestrated scheme from the beginning. Wu Xie breaks into a cold sweat, realizing that they had blindly trusted Zhang Hai Ke all along. The fact that they were given the six-pointed bells at the start was likely a ploy to test whether Wu Xie possessed the legendary "Yi Min" physique that could escape from illusions.

While they had been searching for the whereabouts of the younger brother, they've suddenly hit a dead end. Wu Xie tries to stay calm. Since they're already here, their only option to lure out the Night King is to draw him out of the palace, where he won’t be invisible. Wu Xie recalls that the scroll mentioned a bone incense. According to Zhang Qi Ling, a woman who smells the incense made from bone powder would tremble with excitement.

Wu Xie suggests they find the bone powder immediately. He quickly thinks of the composition of bone powder—protein, which is concentrated in teeth. In a desperate situation, both Wu Xie and Fatty decide to sacrifice a tooth. Fatty is always tough on himself, but Wu Xie even uses a stone to knock out one of his own teeth. Finally, the Night King catches the scent of the bone incense and emerges from the palace. Wu Xie and Fatty watch the exit intently, realizing the reason they couldn’t see the Night King inside the palace was that his patterns blended in with the walls and were nearly indistinguishable in the dim light.

Wu Xie and Fatty split up, trying to lure the Night King into a trap. The opponent is incredibly strong and nearly throws Wu Xie into a chasm. In a moment of brilliance, Fatty ignites a stick of dynamite, allowing Wu Xie to escape by being blasted upwards, while the Night King falls into the chasm. Fatty finally recognizes that the Night King is actually the Mitza Duo they encountered over a decade ago. This creature was once among the top ten in combat strength, but it had always been used by the Zhang family to protect their home. Now, it seems mutated and out of place.

With the Night King gone, it feels like a danger has been averted. Suddenly, Fatty realizes the irony: after all their struggles to find the Night King, they discover it’s actually Mitza Duo. While retrieving the fallen Sky Staff from halfway down the slope, they are pushed into a hidden passage by Zhang Hai Xing. Accidentally, they enter a secret chamber filled with bones and corpses. Wu Xie is shocked, wondering if these remains belong to those lost in the Sand Sea. However, upon seeing numerous metal armor pieces and massive claw-like traps, they are even more astonished. The Night King they just saw was a fake—someone must have donned armor to create this illusion.

Fatty angrily curses, realizing that the Zhang family has secretly constructed armor and hidden passages, deliberately creating the "Night King" ruse. It’s infuriating to think there’s no real Night King, just Zhang Hai Ke manipulating them. Now trapped in this eerie place, Wu Xie struggles to make sense of it all; they’ve been led astray by a massive lie, and even the foreigner Feng has been caught in this deception.

They need to find a way out quickly. Wu Xie and Fatty begin searching for an exit. They reach a windy area and discover that beneath their feet lies a pool of lava—one misstep could turn them to ashes.
