Episode 27 recap: Innocence Triggers Mechanism to Destroy the Flower Field

In Episode 27, Zhang Hai Xing tells the fat guy that her brother, Zhang Hai Ke, witnessed Zhang Qi Ling kill his newlywed wife, and he vows to take revenge. While arranging the funeral for Ni Yata, they receive a mysterious letter that offers hope, claiming that Ni Yata can be resurrected if they obtain the Zang Hai Flower.

Desperate, Zhang Hai Ke rushes to seek help from the former patriarch of the Zhang family, who informs him that the Zang Hai Flower can only temporarily extend the life of the living, is ineffective for the dead, and wilts immediately when picked. Nevertheless, Zhang Hai Ke is determined to try, willing to do anything to save his beloved.

After hearing this story, Wu Xie senses a conspiracy. Ni Yata's death seems suspicious; the moment she passes, a letter arrives requesting the Zang Hai Flower, suggesting a carefully laid trap. Zhang Hai Xing recalls their past encounters with Zhang Qi Ling, particularly the poisoning incident, where Zhang Qi Ling emerged unscathed and even saved them with her blood. How could such a person kill without cause? She concludes that there must be deceit at play.

Despite her doubts, Zhang Hai Xing understands her brother's obsession with the Zang Hai Flower, a long-held wish of his. Their deep sibling bond compels her to accompany him on this quest. It turns out that the Zang Hai Flower blooms every eighty years, and the golden ball bug's eggs parasitize it. The uncontrolled flower field has led to the mutation of the Mi Zha Tuo guards, possibly linked to the disappearances of the Yin Sha Luo people and the legend of the Night King.

If this is true, then Zhang Qi Ling's task for Wu Xie is to destroy this hidden danger to prevent the golden ball bug from becoming a plague that endangers humanity. Zhang Hai Xing mistakenly believes that Wu Xie is on the brink of death, but in reality, Wu Xie and the fat guy are just acting; her leg injury prevents her from keeping up. Once their goal is clear, they head straight for the Zang Hai Flower field, where the beautiful scenery conceals danger.

They realize that setting fire is not a viable solution and need to address the root of the problem. Wu Xie suspects that the Zhang family has a plan in place, with the patriarch's staff and key being crucial. Sure enough, through the keyhole, Wu Xie discovers a mechanism. Just as they prepare to act, Zhang Hai Ke and Hans, along with military forces, arrive. The fat guy cleverly creates chaos while Wu Xie takes the opportunity to activate the mechanism.

Suddenly, the ground beneath the flower field begins to bubble, and the golden ball bug's eggs are stripped away, causing the Zang Hai Flower to wither instantly. Wu Xie completes his mission; life and death no longer hold significance for him.

Zhang Hai Ke witnesses everything and gazes at the wilted Zang Hai Flower, finally accepting reality: his beloved wife cannot be revived. Wu Xie comforts him, reminding him that the world is full of beauty and encouraging him to look beyond to a broader world filled with love for all beings.

After years of obsession, Zhang Hai Xing and her brother find liberation, no longer shackled by pain and madness.
