Throughout the journey, Wu Xie's emotions are like surging waves, filled with both anticipation and anxiety. He has imagined the reunion countless times but can never predict what Zhang Qi Ling's first words will be, fearing that the ten-year promise might have been forgotten over time. Fortunately, he has his old partner, Fatty, by his side, providing unwavering support.
Upon arriving at the Bronze Gate, they call out for a long time, but no one responds. They decide to wait quietly. In the silence, they share their hopes for the future. Wu Xie mentions a fantastical village they stumbled upon during their adventures, surrounded by nine waterfalls, shrouded in mist, with air so pure it feels like it could cleanse all dust. It is his ideal place for retirement. He also talks about the unique fruit in that village, said to awaken memories, including those from past lives. This fills Wu Xie with longing, hoping that Zhang Qi Ling can regain his past through it.
After what feels like an eternity, the Bronze Gate slowly opens, revealing Zhang Qi Ling. Time seems to have left its mark on his face, making this reunion even more precious. Fatty excitedly rushes over, while Wu Xie gazes at Zhang Qi Ling, overwhelmed with emotions.
The three of them then drive to the place Wu Xie calls "Cloud Hidden Village." Nestled halfway up a mountain, the village is tranquil and peaceful, exactly the retirement spot they had always dreamed of. Here, they live a simple life, rising with the sun and resting at sunset, growing vegetables and flowers while enjoying nature's gifts. More importantly, they are reunited and face life's moments together once again.
Occasionally, Wu Xie reflects on his past life, filled with adventures and challenges, which now seem to prepare him for this moment of tranquility. Zhang Qi Ling often ventures into the mountains alone, exploring the unknown, but no matter where he goes, his heart remains connected to Wu Xie and Fatty.
One day, they encounter a devoted old fisherman. Using a flimsy rod and explosive hooks, he fishes day after day in search of the enormous fish that took his son's life twenty years ago. Despite the slim chances, he has never given up. Fatty's optimism brings a touch of warmth to this sorrowful story as he remarks, "Spending twenty years on one thing is a remarkable persistence."
As the Spring Festival approaches, Wu Xie busies himself with preparations, hanging red lanterns and planning a warm New Year for Zhang Qi Ling. Unexpectedly, while killing a chicken, Zhang Qi Ling accidentally slaughters a neighbor's bird, leading to a minor incident. Fortunately, the neighbor’s homemade wine and cured meat become an unexpected delight, making this New Year even livelier.
When the New Year bells ring and firecrackers explode, Wu Xie, Fatty, and Zhang Qi Ling gather around the table, raising their glasses in celebration. They understand that whether through past adventures or the simplicity of their current life, every moment is an essential part of existence. Sharing food and time with loved ones is the greatest happiness. No matter what the future holds, cherishing the present and dancing with fate is the true essence of life.
