Episode 5 recap: Wu Xie and Fatty Team Up to Outwit the Zhang Siblings
In Episode 5, Wu Xie faces a sudden crisis, finding himself "held" at the scene of a crime. A flash of blood catches his eye, and for a moment, he feels as if his head has been severed and his neck is numb, sending waves of panic through him. However, his awareness quickly returns, and he hears someone calling his name. In shock, he looks up to find warm blood on his neck, yet he can still hear voices. Facing him is a "fake Wu Xie," who removes his mask to reveal himself as Zhang Hai Ke, with his sister Zhang Hai Xing by his side. Both are descendants of the Zhang family.
This encounter serves as a psychological and intellectual test for Wu Xie, and while he slightly outsmarts them, the overall outcome is mediocre. Wu Xie realizes that it was all an illusion created by drugs to simulate a beheading. Cautious, he concocts a theory about aliens to try to escape, but he underestimates Zhang Hai Xing's strength, who easily restrains him.
The Zhang family members each possess unique skills, leaving Wu Xie puzzled about why they need his help. Zhang Hai Ke shows old footage of Zhang Qi Ling, revealing that the Night King’s seal is about to break and Wu Xie must help recover a magical artifact to prevent the Night King from resurrecting. The artifact is only thirty centimeters long and resembles a stick, which Wu Xie finds hard to believe could be powerful.
To increase their chances, Wu Xie suggests teaming up, but Zhang Hai Xing dismisses him. Hours later, a bag is dragged in, and a voice mumbling inside is unfamiliar to Wu Xie. Just as he is about to release the person, an infrared light appears, and Zhang Hai Xing is caught. It turns out that Fatty has cleverly orchestrated this, using a child to execute the plan and easily resolving the crisis.
Fatty appears, mocking the Zhang family's lack of insight, and smoothly joins their team. Just as the tension builds, gunfire erupts outside as a group of foreign adventurers suddenly attacks. They are intrigued by Wu Xie and his companions’ previous adventures and seek to collaborate. Faced with dozens of armed individuals, Fatty navigates the situation with intelligence, outwardly agreeing while secretly communicating with Wu Xie, emphasizing the need to build alliances for future needs.
With both sides on edge, Wu Xie and Fatty, surrounded by the foreigners, use their wits and mutual understanding to strategize how to ensure their safety while uncovering the truth. They ponder whether this unexpected collaboration is a blessing or a curse. The path ahead is uncertain, and they must tread carefully to peel back the layers of mystery and fulfill their unknown mission.
