Episode 6 recap: Foreigners Reveal Clues About the Night King
In Episode 6, Wu Xie and Fatty are chatting in their room when they suddenly hear a strange noise by the door. They exchange a knowing glance and quickly subdue the unexpected visitor. When they remove the mask, Wu Xie is shocked to discover that this is the person who asked him for directions at the training ground earlier that day. Both are left wondering just how many secret visitors there are at the training site.
They swiftly shove the intruder into a sack, planning to deal with him later. However, as soon as they step outside, they are chilled by the eerie sight before them: the training ground is completely deserted. Just hours ago, it had been bustling with activity, but now it is terrifyingly silent. Fatty jokes that everyone has either been captured or worse.
While they contemplate their situation, the person in the sack wakes up. Seeing no one around, he trembles in fear, saying that being out in the dark means certain death. Wu Xie and Fatty are skeptical, but the sudden emptiness of the training ground prompts them to start a fire for warmth, just in case.
Before long, the wind picks up outside, and a swarm of strange insects rushes in. Seizing the opportunity, the person in the sack escapes, while Wu Xie and Fatty scramble to block the door. However, the insects seem relentless, quickly gnawing through the door.
With no other option, they flee. The insects pursue them fiercely, and Fatty suffers multiple bites. In a moment of desperation, Wu Xie uses his own blood to drive the insects away, but with limited blood, they can only maintain a temporary safe distance. They run until they reach the statue of Zhang Qi Ling, miraculously finding that the insects seem to fear it, circling nearby but not daring to approach.
Shivering and feeling trapped, they realize their lives hang in the balance. Fatty expresses his gratitude, saying that knowing a friend like Wu Xie is his greatest fortune.
In a moment of confusion, Wu Xie realizes he might be trapped in some sort of illusion. He struggles to recall what happened, trying to wake himself from the daze. Eventually, he opens his eyes to find himself lying in the same room as the night before, facing Zhang Hai Ke and Zhang Hai Xing, who is using a cloth to muffle a bell.
It turns out that the bell is what induced his hallucination. Zhang Hai Xing explains that it belongs to the younger brother and is rarely used; this time it served as a test for Wu Xie and Fatty. Their resilience and Fatty's steady presence allowed them to pass.
Wu Xie is frustrated by this bizarre test, but now that it has happened, he can do nothing but accept it. At that moment, a foreigner appears and invites them to watch footage from an expedition team. Five years earlier, a fifteen-member elite team set out to explore the mountains but encountered a monster resembling a flesh tumor, which quickly dispatched them with its tentacles.
The rescue team that followed only found mangled bodies, frozen in ice. The only significant find was a safe containing what appeared to be decomposed tissue from the Night King. Researchers found this tissue to have high medicinal value and potential to alter human genes, possibly eradicating diseases.
The foreigner also expresses interest in Zhang Qi Ling's foreign stick and invites Zhang Hai Ke to collaborate in searching for the final key to combat the Night King. Wu Xie and Fatty find themselves unexpectedly drawn into a cross-border adventure. Whether they can unravel the mystery and defeat the Night King remains uncertain.
