Episode 15 recap: Cui Xing Zhou Takes Liu Mian Tang to the Hot Springs

One day, Liu Mian Tang was busy working at the pharmacy when she suddenly heard some shocking news—a small scouting team had encountered trouble, resulting in dozens of injuries and fatalities. The moment she heard this, her heart sank because she remembered Cui Xing Zhou mentioning that team. Fear gripped her, and she rushed home, closed the door, and her mind was racing with images of Cui Xing Zhou.

She fervently prayed for his safety, hoping nothing had happened to him.

Before long, she heard familiar footsteps outside—it was Cui Xing Zhou! When she opened the door and saw him, tears streamed down her face. The relief and joy she felt were like finding a precious treasure.

As soon as they met, they embraced tightly without saying a word. After everything they had been through, their bond had grown even stronger.

Meanwhile, Shi Xue Ji's mother had sent her out to buy some jewelry. Not in a hurry, she decided to grab a bite first at a restaurant. The waiter was very enthusiastic and recommended a dish called "Xishi Tongue," but she wasn’t interested and ordered a large pork knuckle instead.

Coincidentally, Lu Wen arrived at the same time. Shi Xue Ji had hoped to keep her indulgent eating habits a secret, but the waiter loudly served her order. Lu Wen immediately understood the situation; he had come prepared, wanting to get closer to Shi Xue Ji in hopes of marrying her.

He sent away his attendants and dug into his meal with gusto. His easygoing manner made Shi Xue Ji feel more favorable towards him. As they chatted, she asked if he could teach her how to play chess and expressed a desire to become his student.

Lu Wen felt a mix of emotions at this request. He had once taught Liu Mian Tang how to play chess, hoping for a lasting connection, but life had taken unexpected turns.

Not wanting to teach another woman, he politely declined Shi Xue Ji's offer, saying he was okay at chess but not skilled at teaching others.

On the other side, Liu Mian Tang stumbled upon an herb called "Ghost Sweet Root." This herb, when steeped in hay, could make animals weak and disoriented. She found it useful and took her maid to gather a lot of it. When she next saw Cui Xing Zhou, she shared her discovery, suggesting that if the enemy's cavalry consumed it, their battle would be much easier.

Cui Xing Zhou's eyes lit up at her idea. He devised a plan, first intentionally discarding some supplies and then pretending to seek them back. The enemy, seeing an opportunity, tested the grain and, finding it non-toxic, fed it to their horses. That very night, Cui Xing Zhou launched a surprise attack. The enemy's horses were too weak to flee, leading to a resounding victory for Prince Huaiyang!

When Cui Xing Zhou returned from the front lines, his gaze was tender as he looked at Liu Mian Tang. Just as he was about to embrace her, he collapsed from exhaustion. Zhao Quan, noticing this, said it was due to overwork and advised him to rest well.

Liu Mian Tang, too, was suffering from fatigue, and her old injuries had flared up. Cui Xing Zhou, anxious for her, urged Zhao Quan to find a solution. Zhao Quan recalled how he had rescued Liu Mian Tang when her tendons were severed, and they still hadn’t fully healed. He suggested they visit the hot springs, as the warm water would help soothe her muscles and assist in recovery. Cui Xing Zhou agreed, thinking it was a good idea, and chose a nice day to take Liu Mian Tang to the hot springs.

The water in the hot springs was warm and clear. Liu Mian Tang even invited Cui Xing Zhou to join her, but he had a secret he hadn’t shared with her. Concerned about taking advantage of her vulnerability, he declined her invitation, saying he needed to stay and guard the camp.
