Episode 13 recap: Jia Dai Yu Worries About Cheng Ya Ya's Early Romance
Cheng Ya Ya is anxiously pacing like a cat on a hot tin roof. She rushes to the police station, grabs the officer’s hand, and pleads with him to go to the school union and clarify things for everyone. Recently, there have been misunderstandings among the students about an inappropriate relationship between Yuan Shan Qing and his brother Yuan Yong, which has been weighing heavily on Cheng Ya Ya’s heart.
The officer listens and makes a special trip to the school the next day. He enters Yuan Shan Qing's classroom and clearly explains that the last time they took Yuan Shan Qing in was purely a routine inquiry, and there’s no evidence linking him to any misconduct involving Yuan Yong.
Li Si, on the other hand, is filled with dreams for the future. He has already planned that if he doesn’t get into college, he will stay in the oil field with Cheng Miao Miao, where he can take on a small leadership role while she handles public relations. They would sweetly get married and save up for a big house together before Li Da Hai starts a family of his own.
When Cheng Miao Miao hears this, she rolls her eyes at him, feeling a mix of amusement and disbelief. Meanwhile, Hu Qiu Min dreams of moving to Shenzhen to start a new chapter in his life.
One day, Qiang Xiao Wa accidentally steps on Cheng Miao Miao's bandage, and Li Si gets furious at his nonchalance. Realizing his mistake, Qiang Xiao Wa quickly runs over to apologize to Cheng Miao Miao, even addressing the previous misunderstanding. Li Si watches, feeling a mix of emotions, as he discovers how much Cheng Miao Miao has kept from him. Cheng Miao Miao thinks it over and decides to have a good talk with Qiang Xiao Wa, but Li Si mutters that Qiang Xiao Wa is too perceptive, and might take Cheng Miao Miao's goodwill the wrong way.
Yuan Shan Qing knows that Cheng Ya Ya has really helped him, and he feels immensely grateful. As they joke and laugh together, Jia Dai Yu unexpectedly walks in on them. She’s immediately worried, fearing that Cheng Ya Ya might be starting a romance too soon. However, Cheng Peng Fei disagrees, believing that this is just a reward for Cheng Ya Ya's kindness.
To ease Jia Dai Yu’s worries, he recalls her own youthful “adventures” to put things in perspective, saying they were much more serious than early romance. Still, Jia Dai Yu isn’t reassured and insists on holding a family meeting before dinner. As a result, Cheng Peng Fei, Cheng Miao Miao, and Cheng Ya Ya each chime in, leaving her confused and at a loss.
Meanwhile, Hu Yue suddenly experiences a painful appendicitis attack, rolling on the ground in agony. When Yang Song Bai arrives, he begins to scold her, only to remember later that they need to call a doctor.
The surgery was done under general anesthesia, and Yang Song Bai and Hu Qiu Min anxiously waited outside while Jia Dai Yu and Niu Ling Ling decided to leave.
After the surgery was successfully completed, Yang Song Bai asked Hu Qiu Min to go home and rest, while he stayed behind to keep watch. Early in the morning, Cheng Ya Ya packed all the egg pancakes that Cheng Peng Fei made into a lunchbox to take to Yuan Shan Qing and Xiao Zi for breakfast.
Li Si was feeling a bit moody over the situation with Cheng Miao Miao and Qiang Xiao Wa, but Cheng Miao Miao was completely oblivious. The school was organizing a singing competition, and Qiang Xiao Wa had been rejected by the class monitor due to his poor Mandarin. Both Cheng Miao Miao and Li Si felt unfairly for him.
Cheng Miao Miao entrusted Xiao Zi to Li Si, who was left feeling helpless while holding her by the basketball court. In the end, he had to ask Qiang Xiao Wa to help watch the child while he went to play basketball. Xiao Zi couldn't speak and didn't really interact with people, but when Cheng Miao Miao returned and saw Li Si playing, she started chatting with Xiao Zi and they seemed to be having fun together.
Suddenly, Li Si accidentally twisted his ankle. Without hesitation, Qiang Xiao Wa picked him up and ran to the hospital. After eating, Hu Qiu Min also remembered to bring food to Hu Yue and Yang Song Bai. This time, they surprisingly didn’t argue. Watching Yang Song Bai gently feed Hu Yue made Hu Qiu Min's heart feel warm.
Cheng Ya Ya and Cheng Peng Fei talked about Xiao Zi, while Jia Dai Yu still clung to her concerns about early romance. Cheng Ya Ya then explained that Yuan Shan Qing had saved her life when they were children. Although she couldn't remember all the details, that act of kindness meant a lot to her.
In the end, Cheng Ya Ya and Yuan Shan Qing took Cheng Peng Fei to the hospital for a thorough examination of Xiao Zi. It turned out that everyone had misunderstood her condition; she didn’t have an intellectual disability but was actually deaf-mute due to an issue with her ears. This revelation cleared up all misunderstandings, and everyone felt relieved.
