Episode 15 recap: Changing Perceptions of Yuan Shan Qing
In Episode 15, Cheng Peng Fei is busy organizing things for Xiao Zi. After coordinating with his comrades in Beijing, Jia Dai Yu expresses her dissatisfaction because they still have to cover the train fare themselves. This time, Yang Song Bai will accompany Cheng Peng Fei, and although he’s not very talkative, he truly has a kind heart.
Li Si takes Cheng Miao Miao out for durian pizza, insisting that it’s delicious. However, Cheng Miao Miao only detects a foul smell and after taking a bite, she turns away and vomits. With everyone's help, Xiao Zi is about to go to Beijing for surgery, and Yuan Shan Qing feels increasingly grateful but doesn’t know how to repay everyone.
Hu Qiu Min helps Yuan Shan Qing thank Yang Song Bai, while Hu Yue playfully tugs at her braids and rambles on. Cheng Ya Ya expresses her gratitude to her father, Cheng Peng Fei, but then notices Jia Dai Yu staring at her intently.
Jia Dai Yu still suspects that Cheng Ya Ya and Yuan Shan Qing might be in a relationship. Cheng Ya Ya, exasperated, uses Cheng Miao Miao and Li Si as examples. Just then, Cheng Miao Miao returns and quickly tries to clarify the rumors, but her distaste for the lingering durian smell is evident.
Cheng Peng Fei and Yang Song Bai set off with Xiao Zi for her treatment in Beijing. Jia Bao Shan comes to find Jia Dai Yu, seeking refuge after a breakup. Jia Dai Yu rolls her eyes, noting that he doesn’t have a job or a partner, and she wishes he would be more proactive.
To show her gratitude, Yuan Shan Qing volunteers to take on all the chores this semester. She becomes much more cheerful and even brings some snacks for Cheng Ya Ya. Meanwhile, Qiang Xiao Wa and Cheng Miao Miao are chatting and laughing, prompting gossip. Upon hearing this, Li Si sternly reprimands them and claims he and Cheng Miao Miao are getting married, which makes Qiang Xiao Wa scoff.
Cheng Peng Fei calls home to report that if all goes well, Xiao Zi’s surgery could happen next week, bringing relief to Yuan Shan Qing. However, the flower house has been robbed, leaving only Jia Dai Yu and a pregnant colleague in the greenery team. In her panic, Jia Dai Yu twists her ankle.
Upon hearing this, Yuan Shan Qing buys canned goods to visit her, but they end up having dinner with Jia Bao Shan. Jia Dai Yu suggests that Jia Bao Shan should take shifts at the flower house and simply stay there. Although it starts as a playful suggestion, Yuan Shan Qing seems to ponder it seriously.
The next day, Yuan Shan Qing arrives at the flower house early to help out and plans to move in. Cheng Ya Ya disagrees, worrying about what they would do if there were actually thieves. However, Yuan Shan Qing is eager to contribute to the Cheng family, believing it will ease her own mind.
So, Yuan Shan Qing moves into the flower house. Although the conditions are quite basic, she loves it because the room allows her to see the stars. She organizes everything in the flower house neatly and invites everyone over for a meal as a way to express her gratitude. Hu Qiu Min doesn't join because his brother is supposed to call, but Yuan Shan Qing is a skilled cook.
Yuan Shan Qing plans to plant a flower pot with Cheng Ya Ya, while Li Si is also eager to plant one with Cheng Miao Miao. In the middle of the night, Yuan Shan Qing is startled awake by noises outside and realizes someone is moving things. Instead of alarming the intruders, she quietly follows them to their home and successfully captures the thief.
Xiao Fang calls Yuan Shan Qing to the office to inform her that Xiao Zi's surgery went very well and that she will be back in a couple of days. Yuan Shan Qing is moved to tears and hugs Xiao Fang in gratitude. Xiao Fang comforts her, knowing that Yuan Shan Qing has always wanted to do more for everyone, and reminds her that doing well in school and getting into college would be the best way to repay the oil field.
Before long, Cheng Peng Fei and Yang Song Bai return with Xiao Zi, who can now faintly hear some sounds, although she still needs time to get used to it and to learn to speak. After their return, Hu Yue reflects on how they had planned to visit Tiananmen when they got married, but after all these years, they never made it.
Yuan Shan Qing buzzes around like a busy little bee, while Cheng Miao Miao and Li Si try to plant flowers but accidentally mess things up. Frustrated, Cheng Miao Miao storms off.
