Episode 10 recap: Jiang Ying Zi is the Leader of a Drug Trafficking Organization
In Episode 10, we flash back to the summer of 1994, when Li Wen Long accomplished a significant task. He secretly transported two bodies to the Huazhou crematorium and didn’t leave until he watched the ashes cool completely. Fast forward to the present, Xin Tie Gang has just finished cooking a delicious pot of tomato and egg noodles and is waiting for Zheng Bei and the others to come home for dinner.
However, after waiting for a while, he notices that Zhao Xiao Guang is missing. Upon inquiry, he discovers that Zhao has been injured and is lying in the hospital, and even Gu Yi Ran has sustained some scrapes.
At that moment, Brother Xiong rushes in with news, saying there’s been a breakthrough in the interrogation. The mastermind behind the “Snow Angel” drug operation, known in the underworld as Xiao Ma Ge, is hiding at the Sanlian Er Factory.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ying Zi, who usually appears to be a gentle housewife, is now heading straight to the incident site with Li Wen Long. Her expression is so cold it could freeze water, almost as if she has transformed into a different person. Upon hearing that Jiang Ying Zi has arrived, Brother Er Jin immediately steps out to greet her, pouring tea and offering water, respectfully calling her "Sister-in-law." The bodyguards realize that this plainly dressed woman holds significant power, even making their boss, Qin Yi, show her respect.
Brother Er Jin cautiously presents a repaired pair of glasses, claiming they belong to Wang Jianmin, and explains that the new recruits caused the trouble. To make amends, he offers a box of money, but Jiang Ying Zi isn’t interested. She demands that Li Wen Long give the club’s boss, Ah Sen, a "cosmetic-style" lesson, leaving everyone present too frightened to speak, fully aware that she is the true force to be reckoned with.
Jiang Ying Zi doesn’t hold back and warns Brother Er Jin that Wang Jianmin is an upstanding person who doesn’t associate with these dirty dealings. She made it clear when she married him that she would not tolerate such behavior. Today, she’s not confronting Qin Yi directly, which is already a sign of her restraint. To further emphasize her point, she uses Brother Er Jin’s daughter, Jin Fei, as leverage, leaving him with no room for complaints.
In the special investigation team, after some deliberation, they conclude that Qin Yi is likely Xiao Ma Ge. They decide to personally drive Xin Tie Gang to the hospital to see Zhao Xiao Guang. While Gu Yi Ran is picking up medicine at the hospital, he unexpectedly spots Li Wen Long and recalls the events of that rainy night in 1994, immediately rushing after him. Li Wen Long drops a matchbox branded with the state-owned Dalian cold noodles before speeding away in his car.
Xin Tie Gang was frantic upon seeing Zhao Xiao Guang and started shouting, only to be scolded by the nurse. Zheng Bei and the others found it amusing, but Gu Yi Ran had other things on his mind. That evening, he went to the state-owned cold noodle restaurant, pretending to be sent by Li Wen Long. He managed to gather information from a waitress, confirming that Li Wen Long frequently visited the place.
Mao Mao, being quite curious, noticed Wang Jianmin’s injuries and snuck over to ask Jiang Ying Zi about it. However, since she knew that Wang Jianmin wasn't her biological father, there was still a bit of emotional distance.
On the investigation team’s side, tests revealed that the ice drugs from Lan Jiguang and Xiao Bai Lou were the same—“Snow Angel.” Zheng Bei quickly called in Gao Lin Sheng to report this major discovery.
At this moment, Zhao Xiao Guang returned, leaning on a crutch and humming a tune. Gao Lin Sheng, concerned for his health, urged him to rest, but Zhao Xiao Guang insisted he was fine and wanted to contribute to the case, even if it was just reviewing the files.
In the following days, Ding Guo Zhu and Zhao Xiao Guang kept a close watch on the Sanlian Er Factory, while Gu Yi Ran conducted experiments during the day and frequented the nightclub at night, searching for clues. However, after ten days passed, drugs continued to circulate in the market without any leads, leaving the investigation team feeling despondent.
Zheng Bei was reprimanded by Gao Lin Sheng, and Zhao Xiao Guang and the others felt equally frustrated, unable to understand why the leads suddenly dried up. Gu Yi Ran speculated that the Sanlian Er Factory might not be a storage site after all, or they had already been exposed, prompting Qin Yi to relocate.
The case had once again hit a deadlock.
