Episode 13 recap: Cooperation Between North and South to Capture Drug Dealers
In this episode, Jiang Xiao Hai, although himself not involved with drugs, often goes out to collect debts for his boss, Qin Yi. His methods are ruthless, and just hearing his name can send shivers down people's spines. One time, when he went to collect money from Boss Lü, who was trying to stall, Jiang Xiao Hai didn’t hesitate to teach him a "little lesson"—he cut off one of Lü's fingers and warned him that if he didn't pay by the next day, another one would follow.
Guess what? The next day, Boss Lü showed up with the money, his demeanor completely respectful.
At the auto repair shop, Jiang Xiao Hai handed over the money he made from illegal activities to Qin Yi, expressing a desire to find a legitimate job so his sister wouldn’t have to worry about him all the time. Qin Yi, understanding the situation perfectly, reminded Jiang Xiao Hai not to forget that he was like a godfather to him; there are boundaries to their relationship, and he needs to keep things clear.
Meanwhile, on the Huazhou side, undercover agent Ah Ming finally made some progress under Hao Ge, obtaining a crucial ledger that he was preparing to pass up the chain. However, once he submitted the ledger, it revealed that Hao Ge was planning to expand his territory and had also been colluding with drug dealers to deal in meth. But Hao Ge is no fool; he realized something was off with Ah Ming and concocted an excuse to send him abroad, secretly aiming to eliminate him. Tragically, Ah Ming ended up being killed by a statue of Guan Gong, which was quite a shock.
After receiving the news, the police immediately launched a manhunt for Hao Ge. The special task force worked tirelessly, following a series of leads that not only led them to Qin Yi's new drug stash but also laid bare the entire drug distribution chain. Just then, they received word from the Guangzhou police that they were planning to take down the entire ecstasy trafficking network the following week, which threw the task force's plans into disarray.
Everyone felt uneasy about the situation, but Captain Zheng Bei understood that this was a matter of larger strategy, especially since the losses on the Guangdong side were significant, including the deaths of five police officers over three years of pursuing Hao Ge. Gu Yi Ran reassured everyone that once they captured Qin Yi, they wouldn’t have to rush to hand him over; they could continue digging deeper in Halan to uncover the masterminds behind it all.
Soon, it was time for the annual martial arts competition between Zhang Xue Yao and Zheng Bei. Gu Yi Ran watched the two sparring and wondered what kind of deep-seated grudge existed between them. Zhao Xiao Guang explained that Zhang Xue Yao had been bullied as a child and vowed to become stronger. Later, when he was rescued by Zheng Bei during a robbery, he started looking up to him as a role model, aspiring to be a police officer like him.
Finally, the day to wrap up the operation arrived. The Guangdong police had been lying in wait at the docks and successfully captured Hao Ge. Meanwhile, as the ecstasy-laden train arrived in Halan, the task force began their own operation, raiding KTVs and dance halls linked to drug activities, leading to the arrests of many of Qin Yi's subordinates.
Though Er Jin was cunning, he couldn’t escape the police pursuit. However, a twist occurred during the chase—Lin Zhi Da came seeking revenge. Earlier, Er Jin had sent someone to punish Lin Zhi Da's brother, Lin Jiang, and Lin Zhi Da was not about to let that slide. After a fierce battle, Zhang Xue Yao bravely subdued Er Jin despite sustaining some injuries. The police then managed to bring Lin Zhi Da back to the precinct, only to discover that the person in the back seat wasn’t Qin Yi.
This intense confrontation reaffirmed the police's determination to combat drug-related crimes. They understood that as long as there are people lurking in the shadows, their mission will never be over.
