Episode 24 recap: Jin Fei's Assault by Lin Jiang Goes Unreported
In Episode 24, the Mid-Autumn Festival arrives, filling the courtyard downstairs with lively celebrations as neighbors gather together. Gu Yi Ran and the Zheng family join in, sitting together and enjoying this rare moment of reunion. However, Gu Yi Ran feels a mix of emotions, as this is the first festival since his father's disappearance that has been so lively.
Previously, he didn’t understand why his father insisted on being buried alongside his mother. Now, after all he has experienced, he begins to grasp the profound connection to home that this represents—what they call "returning to one's roots."
Zheng Bei, a kind-hearted man, takes the initiative to call Officer Wu in Huazhou, asking for help in locating Gu Yi Ran’s father. This gesture warms Gu Yi Ran's heart, deeply touching him.
After dinner, the Zheng family makes dumplings, and Zheng's mother even prepares a plate of river snails specifically for Gu Yi Ran. The flavors are so reminiscent of Huazhou that Gu Yi Ran feels as if he has returned to his hometown.
While eating dumplings, Zhao Xiao Guang is lucky enough to find a coin, which he happily passes on to Gu Yi Ran as a token of good luck, wishing him smooth days ahead. Gu Yi Ran gratefully accepts this gesture, recognizing that it symbolizes the deep friendship they share.
Meanwhile, Jin Fei and her friends face misfortune at a nightclub. Lin Jiang takes an interest in Jin Fei and attempts to drug her. Though momentarily dazed, Jin Fei’s strong-willed nature quickly rallies her, and she fights back fiercely. This infuriates Lin Jiang, who has her restrained and injects her with an unknown substance.
When Jin Fei regains consciousness, she trembles as she gets dressed, desperate to escape the terrifying situation. However, Lin Jiang is not ready to let her go; he threatens her with a camera, forcing her to comply temporarily.
Fortunately, Jiang Ying Zi arrives just in time, angrily confronting Lin Jiang and taking Jin Fei to the police station to file a report.
At the station, Lin Jiang tries to play the role of a wronged husband, attempting to evade responsibility. Jiang Ying Zi and Bai Ling skillfully manipulate the situation, using threats and persuasion to pressure Jin Fei into changing her story. Ultimately, Jin Fei has no choice but to compromise for the time being. However, Jiang Ying Zi does not give up; she helps Jin Fei destroy the photos Lin Jiang took, ensuring her safety.
Meanwhile, Zheng Bei is diligently investigating the case. He visits Gao Lin Sheng with mooncakes gifted by his comrades, only to discover that these mooncakes have changed hands multiple times before reaching him, giving him a deeper appreciation for the Northeastern tradition of gift-giving. During their conversation, Zheng Bei reveals that they have identified Jiang Ying Zi as the head of a drug trafficking ring and plan to intercept her during a delivery of "Snow Angel."
However, things are not as straightforward as they seem. While Zhao Xiao Guang is conducting checks at a crossroads, he spots Li Wen Long but finds no suspicious items, leaving the investigation at a standstill. Just when the team feels stuck, Zheng Bei receives news that Sheng City has found traces of meth.
It turns out that despite their meticulous checks, the cunning criminals have managed to exploit a gap. Zheng Bei immediately informs Gu Yi Ran to pack his things in preparation for an investigation in Sheng City.
Behind this Mid-Autumn night lies a web of conspiracies and struggles. No matter how challenging the path ahead, Zheng Bei and his colleagues remain steadfast in their pursuit of truth, committed to upholding justice and peace.
