Episode 28 recap: Zheng Bei Anticipates Drug Trafficking Timing and Sets a Trap
In this episode, the special investigation team uncovers that Jiang Xiao Hai had seriously injured Liang Jia Ju’s father in Zhan Zhou, yet their relationship remains unaffected and even improves. Liang Jia Ju is now fully targeted by the investigation team. Jiang Xiao Hai analyzes the next steps, speculating that Zheng Bei has two possible scenarios: either he lacks key evidence for drug trafficking and will proceed normally with the shipment, or he feels confident but is waiting for the right moment.
After extensive preparation, the drug shipment is substantial, and abandoning the plan would mean a significant loss. For the arrogant Liang Jia Ju, drug trafficking is his expertise, and he has never failed. After discussions among Jiang Xiao Hai, Liang Jia Ju, and Jiang Ying Zi, they decide to proceed with the drug shipment but alter the plan.
Originally scheduled for October 19, the shipment is moved to October 12. Even if the police from both locations plan to act together, the Sheng Cheng police cannot arrive a week early. Coincidentally, October 12 is also a weekend and the day of Zheng Bei’s father’s 60th birthday celebration, which means Zheng Bei’s colleagues and leaders will be present. Meanwhile, Bai Ling senses she is being watched and discreetly calls Jiang Ying Zi to report. Jiang Ying Zi decides to personally oversee the shipment. She first drops her child off at a youth center and then disguises herself as a cleaning lady to slip past the police.

Realizing something is amiss, they rush to the restaurant to wish Zheng Fu a happy birthday, only to find the place filled with local residents and no sign of Zheng Bei’s group.
In the backyard, Jiang Xiao Hai discovers a ladder and realizes that Zheng Bei and his crew have already escaped over the wall. The timeline rewinds to ten days earlier when the investigation team speculated about Jiang Xiao Hai and Liang Jia Ju’s plan. They began investigating the towel factory, confirming that the factory manager’s family had been taken hostage by drug traffickers, raising concerns about potential changes in the shipment timing.
Zheng Bei, seeing the calendar, recalls his father’s birthday on the 12th, and remembers mentioning this date to Jiang Xiao Hai, suspecting it might be the chosen day for the operation. Consequently, Zheng Bei devises a trap to lead the drug traffickers into a false sense of security while police forces are strategically positioned near the drug factory, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Jiang Xiao Hai quickly drives back and calls Liang Jia Ju to warn him that their transaction has been compromised.
