Episode 5 recap: A Liang, the Killer from Xiao Bai Lou, is Assassinated
In Episode 5, after a thrilling rescue, little Mao Mao clings tightly to Jiang Xiao Hai and sweetly calls him "Uncle." Suddenly, a man pulls out a knife and lunges threateningly at Mao Mao. In a split second, Zheng Bei dashes forward like lightning, blocking the lethal blow but leaving a horrifying gash on his arm.
After a fierce struggle, Zheng Bei manages to subdue the assailant, ensuring Mao Mao's safety. Jiang Xiao Hai, grateful to learn that Zheng Bei is not only his savior but also has saved his niece, feels a deep sense of appreciation. Meanwhile, they remain unaware that a pair of eyes is watching them from a distance.
On another front, the new drug expert Gu Yi Ran becomes an impromptu instructor for the task force right after work. Back at the task force, Gu Yi Ran is hard at work crafting his "teaching manual." Aware that his teaching methods need improvement, he stays late to prepare, aiming to make the content more engaging. Zheng Bei observes quietly, gaining a deeper appreciation for Gu Yi Ran's dedication and attention to detail.

Utilizing Gu Yi Ran's expertise, they earn the trust of a key figure and manage to apprehend him. This operation not only showcases Gu Yi Ran's capabilities but also earns him newfound respect from the task force members.
As the investigation deepens, they close in on another important suspect—A Liang. During a meticulously planned capture operation, they encounter A Liang's cunning escape and a sudden assassination attempt. Yet, the task force refuses to give up, continuing to track leads with the determination to bring the true culprit to justice. Throughout this process, the seamless teamwork between Zheng Bei and Gu Yi Ran proves crucial to solving the case.
