Episode 11 recap: Inappropriate Guest Harasses Gu Yu, Leading to a Confrontation

In Episode 11, Chen Sihai is completely unaware of Liu Qingyong's true identity. He believes that the school is about to welcome a generous donor and enthusiastically shows Liu Qingyong and his group around the classrooms and basic dormitories where the female students attend classes. During lunch, Liu Qingyong witnesses the girls hurriedly heading to the canteen, where the food is simple and sparse, consisting only of some greens, starkly contrasting with the hearty meals at the neighboring school.

What’s even more heartbreaking is that the girls' high school has to share a restroom with a nearby school, deeply impacting Liu Qingyong’s feelings. This experience fuels Liu Qingyong’s concern for the issues facing Huaping Girls' High School. Upon reviewing the school’s finances, he discovers that the two million yuan previously allocated by the provincial government has long been exhausted. This funding went towards building classrooms and purchasing teaching equipment, as well as covering teachers' salaries and students' basic supplies, much of which was raised by teacher Zhang Guimei through her relentless efforts.

Zhang Guimei reveals that the annual tuition and fees for each student amount to twenty thousand yuan, not including other expenses. The entire school's operating costs reach three million yuan each year. Faced with this financial shortfall, Zhang Guimei feels the pressure as businesspeople fail to keep their promises. After learning all of this, Liu Qingyong decisively decides to donate eight million six hundred thousand yuan to the school, which leaves Zhang Guimei and her team overwhelmed with emotion and tears of joy.

Meanwhile, upon discovering that his unintended actions have brought significant funding to the school, Chen Sihai is filled with mixed emotions. However, his joy quickly turns to worry when he learns that Gu Yu has gone missing. It turns out that Gu Yu, in an effort to lessen the school's financial burden, had taken a job on her own. Unfortunately, while working at a massage parlor, she faced harassment and had to defend herself, resulting in injury to another person.

Fast forward to July 2010, Gu Yu has been away from home for over a year and is now taken to the police station due to the incident. As a minor, the police request that a guardian be notified. The senior students at the girls' high school are under immense pressure as they prepare for college entrance exams, but Zhang Guimei believes that with one more year of hard work, they will succeed.

Upon receiving the police notification, Zhang Guimei, despite her exhaustion, rushes to the Lijiang police station at night. She speaks with Gu Yu to understand the situation. When presented with the police's mediation suggestions, Zhang Guimei firmly believes that Gu Yu acted in self-defense and decides to investigate the truth herself. After hours of standing outside the massage parlor, she finally gains the trust of one of the employees, securing crucial evidence.

The surveillance footage clearly shows the inappropriate behavior of the male guest, yet the police appear vague in their handling of the case, trying to downplay the situation. After considerable effort, although the male guest ultimately withdraws his complaint, Zhang Guimei's determination and sense of justice leave a strong impression on everyone present.

As she leaves the police station, Zhang Guimei powerfully responds to a cleaner's question about the school's policy of only admitting female students, touching the hearts of everyone there. Bringing Gu Yu back to school, Zhang Guimei feels both anger and compassion; she scolds Gu Yu for leaving without notice but understands the struggles she faces. Gu Yu quietly endures everything and finally retrieves her wages and belongings from her employer, setting off on her journey home.
