Meanwhile, Xing Wen Hao secretly contacts the bank to prevent them from financing Zhao Kai. During the day, he uses a different approach to persuade Zhao Kai to merge his company, Jingtu, with Shidai Logistics, suggesting it would facilitate a successful IPO. When Zhao Kai hears this, he recalls how Xing Wen Hao once tried to rally board members against him, realizing that Xing Wen Hao has long coveted the CEO position at Shidai Logistics.

Zhao Kai, not a fool, firmly rejects the idea of merging the companies, knowing it would entangle him with Xing Wen Hao for good. Xu Dao Ming, concerned that Song Qiao might help Zhao Kai find alternative financing, secretly plants a listening device in Song Qiao's car. This allows him to overhear a conversation where Song Qiao mentions securing funding from a company in Singapore for Zhao Kai, prompting Xu Dao Ming to take covert action.

Zhao Kai and Fang Fang receive news that the Foshan delivery center has caught fire, injuring many delivery personnel. Zhao Kai rushes to the hospital, where he finds numerous injured victims but not his adoptive father. Someone discreetly informs him that two people died in the fire, one of whom was his father, leaving Zhao Kai devastated.

While watching the news about the fire, Song Qiao calls Zhao Kai to suggest postponing their meeting with the bank, but Zhao Kai declines. He is determined to expedite the IPO process and has even sent his brother to help manage the situation.

At the hospital, the injured families confront Zhao Kai, demanding compensation. Overwhelmed by grief, it is Zhao Kai's half-brother who steps in to help. He calls Xu Dao Ming to mitigate the crisis, and Xu Dao Ming publicly promises to pay each injured family their regular salary and an additional 20,000 yuan as compensation.

The media sensationalizes the crisis, raising doubts about whether Zhao Kai can still proceed with the IPO and criticizing the company's internal management. One injured family accuses Shidai Logistics of faulty safety equipment and threatens to sue. Zhao Kai decides to personally negotiate with the families. Initially, they are resistant to mediation, insisting on taking legal action. However, when they learn that Fang Fang is related to another victim, they soften. Fang Fang offers comprehensive compensation, including funding for the deceased's children's education and job placements at Shidai Logistics with competitive salaries.

Thanks to Zhao Kai's reassurance, the family decides against pursuing the lawsuit. Zhao Kai's negotiations with the bank initially falter, as the bank expresses concern over potential legal repercussions. However, when they learn that the family has dropped the lawsuit, they offer to finance Zhao Kai with 40 billion yuan.

Grateful for Xu Dao Ming’s assistance with the Foshan incident, Zhao Kai invites him to Song Qiao's company for coffee. He believes Xu Dao Ming is acting out of friendship, unaware that this is merely a trap designed to lure him into a stock market scheme, allowing Xu Dao Ming to execute his ulterior motives.
