Episode 5 recap: Song Qiao's Plan to Sabotage Fails

In Episode 5, Zhao Kai brings in an experienced lawyer and reads a letter written by Xing Wen Hao in front of his three biological children. In the letter, Xing Wen Hao expresses his wish to divide his estate into four equal parts for his four children, including the long-hidden illegitimate daughter, Fang Fang.

This news infuriates the eldest son, Vincent, who refuses to acknowledge the sudden appearance of his sister and even questions the authenticity of the letter. Fortunately, Xing Wen Hao's second son, Michael, and his youngest daughter, Emma, remain level-headed. Michael tells Vincent the truth: Fang Fang does exist. However, Vincent is too upset to listen; he can't stand the thought of an outsider claiming a share of their inheritance. He glares at his younger siblings, who, feeling intimidated, decide to go along with him for the time being.

Zhao Kai, who is a close friend of Xing Wen Hao and has met Fang Fang before, is troubled by the situation. Knowing that Xing Wen Hao is gravely ill and likely at the end of his life, he feels it’s essential for Fang Fang to see her father one last time. Without hesitation, he arranges for Fang Fang to come to Hong Kong. For Zhao Kai, the inheritance distribution is less important; he just wants them to have a chance to meet.

Initially hesitant, Fang Fang decides to come when she learns this could be her last opportunity to see her father. Upon arrival, Vincent confronts her, accusing her of trying to steal their inheritance. Fang Fang is deeply hurt by his words, and sensing the tension, Zhao Kai quickly takes her to see Xing Wen Hao.

Meanwhile, Vincent is too consumed with anger to care about his father’s health or the business; he's focused solely on arguing with Fang Fang. After meeting with Xing Wen Hao, Fang Fang feels a sense of closure. Not wanting to get involved in the chaos, she retreats to a conference room and has the lawyer draft a statement renouncing any claim to Xing Wen Hao’s estate—she doesn’t want a single penny.

This surprises not only the lawyer but also Vincent and Emma, who urge her to reconsider. Just then, a nurse rushes in to inform them that Xing Wen Hao has woken up!

Upon hearing this, Fang Fang quietly leaves. When Xing Wen Hao awakens and sees that she is not there, his disappointment is palpable.

On another front, Xu Dao Ming is thriving in the logistics business, with company performance skyrocketing and the fleet expanded to seven planes, surpassing annual targets. Zhao Kai is pleased and rewards Xu Dao Ming, even discussing a promotion. However, just as things seem to be going well, a post surfaces in the company accusing Xu Dao Ming of being a murderer, claiming he drove a couple to suicide.

Seeing the situation escalate, Zhao Kai immediately stands up for Xu Dao Ming and instructs his assistant to investigate who posted it. Xu Dao Ming, knowing the truth, confides in Zhao Kai that the couple, Chen Yongda and his wife, had previously invested in his brother's company and were badly scammed. Furious, Chen Yongda sought revenge on Xu Dao Ming’s brother, leading to the tragic outcome.

That evening, Xu Dao Ming confronts Song Qiao at her home, asking her if she was behind the post. She admits it outright, explaining that she intended to recruit Xu Dao Ming to her company but made a mistake in her approach. Xu Dao Ming, disillusioned by Song Qiao's underhanded tactics, finds her emotionally-driven behavior off-putting; he prefers to deal with clever, straightforward people.

Meanwhile, Fang Fang finally settles her debt with Zhao Kai and feels relieved. However, she's taken aback when Zhao Kai announces plans to dissolve the franchise, realizing how quickly business decisions can change.
