Episode 9 recap: Xu Wenhao's Schemes to Exclude Zhao Kai

In episode 9, Xu Daoming left without greeting Zhao Kai, deciding to use drones for deliveries, which resulted in chaos at the Bay Area delivery center. The employees were extremely agitated. When Zhao Kai heard that Fang Fang had gone there alone to calm everyone down, he panicked and tried to call her, but couldn’t get through, which only made him more anxious.

In the past, Zhao Kai had risked everything to revive Xu Wenhao’s shell company. To his surprise, instead of being grateful, Xu Wenhao encouraged Xu Daoming not to apologize, fearing for his own position on the board. With Xu Wenhao backing him, Xu Daoming became even more arrogant.

That evening, Song Qiao came to see Zhao Kai and defended Xu Daoming, claiming there was no need for an apology. Zhao Kai disagreed, believing that employees were the company’s most valuable asset, not burdens like Xu Daoming and his crew thought. He recalled how his father always told him that employees are the foundation of a company’s growth.

Finally getting a call from Fang Fang, Zhao Kai rushed to the hospital, only to find out she had just sprained her wrist. It wasn’t serious, but Song Qiao could tell how worried Zhao Kai was.

The next day, Zhao Kai waited for Xu Daoming at the office to discuss the situation further. Xu Daoming stuck to his guns, insisting he wouldn’t apologize. At a loss, Zhao Kai revealed his authority as the company’s owner. Xu Daoming, however, was unfazed and claimed he had found the person who vandalized his car—Fang Fang’s brothers—and planned to report them to the police. After making this statement, he quit.

During a live broadcast, Zhao Kai addressed the audience alone, expressing the challenges the company had faced and emphasizing the importance of unity and hard work. He stated that the company would always prioritize its people, instilling confidence in the delivery staff. His heartfelt words brought tears to the eyes of the employees at the direct sales store and boosted their motivation.

Meanwhile, Xu Wenhao, seeing the profits rolling in for the logistics company, began plotting. He first pushed Xu Daoming out, and when Zhao Kai offered him the position of second-in-command, he pretended to decline before reluctantly accepting. Zhao Kai thought Xu Wenhao genuinely wanted to help him because of their fathers' friendship, but little did he know that Xu Wenhao was only calculating his own gain—even willing to send his own son to prison, so how could he be sincere with an outsider?

Zhao Kai had been investing in the "Sky City" drone project, entrusting its management to Xu Wenhao. However, after discussions, Song Qiao and Xu Wenhao decided to rush the project for profit. Xu Wenhao claimed that Zhao Kai was against an early launch, leading Song Qiao to misunderstand Zhao Kai’s intentions. With Xu Wenhao sowing discord, Song Qiao began to harbor doubts about Zhao Kai. In this world, it truly is hard to know a person’s heart!
